Hey guys: They used to be called a "Wadman cutter" and I borrowed one for many builds to hand shave the shoulder to get the timing perfect to start the screw on. Are they available? Maybe not called that anymore but is a hand shoulder cutter available? Much easier than going to a lathe shop. Need to buy one. thanks;)

I have one I purchased from a member that uses the black wet or dry sand paper.

Never used it.

Paid 50.00 10 years ago would sell for the same no charge for inflation.

ETA: the wadman tool may leave chatter marks on your barrel and remove material at a quicker rate. With this shoulder sander the face would be chatter mark free and will IMO result in a better finish to mate against your receiver.

No, they are not. On rare occasion you may find a used one in the MP but it's rare. You might be able to borrow one, however. If this suits you PM me.

Yes, I have one. Have no clue where it is packed away right now. Still trying to remodel my loading room. If I locate it, I would gladly rent it out for 50,000 quatloos, or something thereabouts:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:. Bought mine on here too

I have a Wadman tool, No chatter marks whatsoever. Last time I used it I took a barrel from 9 o'clock to the sweet spot in 20 minutes with no over cutting. I put a 33mm socket over it to protect my palm.

Good on you mate.

Just saying Since it has cutter teeth it may leave a chatter mark.

less chance iMo with the sandpaper material removal.

If there is enough interest(and, anytime this tool is mentioned or offered, there appears to be), perhaps one of our resident fabricators/Tool & die makers would consider a run? possible group buy?

Just throwing it out there.

tried sharpening one with chamfered end mill and that botched it up. So, basically I doubt I could make one unless I had a 5 axis rotary table like set up. Even If I figured out how to make one manually and Heat treat and then sharpen and finish honed it how much demand would there be 5 pcs sold at the most?

Since he posted back in 2016 I doubt he cares anymore. But I'd buy one.

When we had a need for a special tool such as this would be we always defer to the EDM shop. Our programmers would design and write it up and let the EDM guys work their magic. Comes out of the machine sharp and ready to work.
The most radical tool I saw them make for us was a two flute fly cutter about five inches long. IIRC feed rate was something like 2 and rpm was 100. The noise brought people from all over the shop to see what was being destroyed.
