A pair of high short hood BN GP9's climb Palisades Coulee headed for Withrow and Mansfield, WA. with empty boxcars to load with grain in 1983. Two years later the line was closed.
Looks like the combine in the foreground is waiting for a truck.

Odessa Trading company grain facility at Wheeler wa. In 1960. OTC was a local farmers Co-op bought out by Cenex in the early 70s.
Hauled a lot of grain out of this place in the early 80s. The local Northern Pacific depot was just to the left of the pic.

This is the lower half of a gate valve body. The upper half contains the gate 'slide' when fully open and is part of the pressure containment where the actuator enters the top of the body.

September 1980, an F3 and an F9 B unit lead 5 GP7's out of Coulee City wa. headed east to Cheney. The lead engine is former Spokane, Portland, and Seattle, it spent a few years after the merger as a power unit for rotary plows before being repainted and pressed into locomotive service.

I find it amazing how many F3s survived late (early 1980s), yet only two or three are left today.
