Okay, so I've got an OSS muzzle device, and it's made of cobalt. Currently, it is threaded 1/2-28...I need it re-threaded 9/16-24 (RH); OSS doesn't make one in that TP yet.

Now, it is a suppressor mount, so it pretty much needs to be perfect. What say you--anyone have the tooling for such an operation? Cobalt is an out-of-the-ordinary material, and it's quite hard... Just a thought. Anyone? TIA, all... --Art

You may want to contact some machine shops that already work with cobalt. I would think the tooling would cost more than the re-threading operation.

Tool life is measured in minutes.

Cemented carbide inserts, especially fine-grained inserts, are suitable and broadly applicable along with SiAlON ceramics and, to some extent, whiskered ceramics.
