Let's say you agreed to a marketplace deal for a certain number of items. Let's say 96 items.

When said items arrived you did a count and instead of 96 you were shorted 6 of those items. Now in the grand scheme of things it's less than 12$ in value.

When you messaged the seller you received a reply back stating they seller never actually counted and just guessed there were 96. He also mentioned that you got a good deal, you can return it and get a refund if your not happy.

If this hypothetically happened to you, what would you do?

No - the seller is a jackass.

96 is 96. Not 95. Not 90. It's also a pretty specific number to have been obtained without counting, so I"m going to say the seller lied to you there, as well.

It doesn't matter how good a deal it is, or isn't. That is completely irrelevant to the discussion.

The seller should get negative reviewing for failure to deliver the terms of the agreement. His "fuck you" attitude instead of attempting to rectify it in some manner, demonstrates it was not an honest mistake, and he is not an honest seller.

Integrity matters, whether it is $0.89 or a 6% shortage in parts.

I was expecting a $0.89 joke but not from the source.
How is I will give your money back a " fuck you " attitude?
Mountains out of mole hills, just never do business with the guy again.
because the seller knows it will cost more to return the items.
"there are 96" and "I didn't count them" do not align.
The seller is dishonest.

So - since you think $0.89 is a joke, and apparently $12 is also a joke, what is your exact threshold?
How much can I steal from you before it is an issue?

I don’t agree. It should be what was stated in the add. Even if he gives him his money back, and pays the shipping back it’s disengenuis.

You'd be justified for requesting a full return/refund including return shipping, or refund of missing items value.

Since seller already failed the first opportunity to make it right Id say negative feedback is also justified, regardless of how it's resolved.

Would the seller let it slide if you had shorted them the $11 or $12?

It’s about principle.

I make people give me my .01¢ change after they close the register drawer. Not because I need the penny, it’s because they didn’t have the courtesy to ask.

If the seller wanted to be up and up he would offer a refund of items cost + shipping both ways (misrepresented), or since he gave a specific number having not counted offer a refund of the actual $ figure that you approximate to be $12 (being too lazy to count to 90 I messed up but want to make it right). Weighing items such as bullets and being 1 or a few short is one thing for bulk pills when it it stated 'selling by weight, may be some discrepancy.' Stating approximately 96 would fall into the same boat. Those do not appear to be the case here. $0.89 aside I'll lay this issue directly to the seller.

If I were happy with 90 for the price I paid, I wouldn't return just because the seller lied.

But make no mistake, that seller is sloppy and lied to cover it. If he had said "I was too lazy to count, but it looks like ~100" he wouldn't have lied. Is that really so goddam hard for a seller to do?

I don't play that shit. How do you "guesstimate" 96? I don't give a flying fuck if they are the last 96 whatever in existence in the universe, I won't put up with ass-hattery, and that is exactly what that chiseler is exhibiting... It's not the being "short", it's the "fuck-you" attitude that is chapping me. Zero tolerance for "fuck you". And I would OUT HIM in a SECOND...
(In fact, you OWE that tidbit of info to every other member here.)
