I'd appreciate some opinions from owner's of DS Arms and Entreprise manufactured "complete rifles". Which one do you think is the best and why ?

can't speak as to Enterprise.

A friend of mine owns a DSA, and I've shot it.

IMO, they are excellent quality and craftsmanship. Fit and finish were excellent. I'd call it "old fashioned" American craftsmanship.

Shoots VERY nicely, with minimal felt recoil.

I'd say you'd be VERY happy with the DSA. It IS an awful lot of $$ though.

There have been a few questions about the cost of a DSA rifle. Even if you get it from a dealer who doesn't charge full retail, they're still pricey. They're often compared with the price of kitguns but that's not a fair comparison. DSA's are basically new rifles. 85% of the components are newly manufactured in-house and the remaining 15% is made up of un-used Steyr parts. No one compares pre-ban FALs with kit guns so why would you do the same for a DSA?

I have an Entreprise with the type1 receiver. Have had no problems so far. Probably would rather have a DSA but I live in Cali and it is much easier for me to get one from Entreprise. They did all my DROS paperwork and were very helpful overall.

I recently picked up an DSA SA-58 Lightweight Limited Edition carbine.

This rifle looks just like the SA-58 Lightweight carbine on DSA's web page except for a few differences. Mine has a stainless upper receiver and barrel, and is ALL black. Not silverish like the standard model.

As far as fit/finish, I am VERY impressed. This rifle absolutely BLOWS AWAY the real nice HK 91 I was thinking about getting instead. Looking at my DSA, I wouldn't trade it for a NIB 91, if prices were equal.

The rifle shoots like a dream. Until about a month ago, my only rifles were .223's. I finally got the .308 itch and had to scratch. My only question was the tool.....AR10? HK 91? DSA? I did a LOT of research and DSA came out the winner. Armalite AR10's are fine guns, but I have several AR's and wanted a new breed. HK, well you know the drill on them. Great guns, expensive but proven over and over again. DSA....hmmmmmm....an American made FAL? Stated by some to be the finest production FAL ever produced. Agreed on by everyone that DSA's are simply fantastic rifles at worst.

Well, out at the range the rifle did nothing but continue to impress me. The carbine is mighty loud though. Sounds a little like a 50! I was drilling targets easily at 100 yards all day. I'll stretch that distance over time, this is after all my first 308 and first FAL, so I need practice.

Let me also say this. DSA's customer service is without a doubt the finest customer service I have EVER experienced, regardless of the business. I have had calls to DSA returned by the V.P. of manufacturing. He spent a half hour on the phone with me answering questions as well as talking about the future of DSA. Real nice people over there. The industry could learn a lot from those folks.

Bottom line? My DSA is one of the finest looking/shooting rifles I have ever seen. The company is all about doing it right, and that gets my attention. www.dsarms.com

I bought a NIB DSA carbine last year. Fit and finish was excellent, as was accuracy and reliability. It is one of my favorite firearms, and rests in the first tier of the gun safe, because it gets taken out a lot!

As for DSA customer service, I have always received good service from my phone orders, including asking questions about parts for my Century Imbel-L1A1. I would buy another DSA FAL, no question.

You can pay less, but I never regret paying a little more for quality. My Century gun was good, but pales next to the DSA. Is the DSA twice as good? In my opinion, yes.

What's the advantage/disadvantages of the stainless steel receiver's (extra $200) over the standard and is a carrying handle available on the DSA ? Are the stainless receiver's finished black ?

The carry handle is a $15 option. Stainless steel is much more corrosion resistant than carbon steel. The finish is a matte silvery color. Another benefit? Some consider it cool looking.

The one on top is a standard SA58 with a stainless lower. Since this picture, it appears that getting the lower receiver in stainless is no longer an option.

DSA Medium contour is my first FAL. Can't really add anything to previous comments about fit and finish. It just looks great. I haven't been able to duplicate the sub moa groups reported in SOF and the latest issue of the American Rifleman, but then again, I haven't broken it in enough. That will change when weather is a little warmer. One thing I can say, is that unlike the SOF gun, it Hates Black Hills match ammo. It likes Federal Gold MedalMatch. It's expensive, but worth it. It will be interesting to see how the home brewed project compares when and if this group buy thing goes through.
