recently acquired some mystery magazines, thought I'd add to the resuscitation. Anyone still have the diagram for follower and/or baseplate types?
Mag #1 and Mag #2 -
Both of these are very similar, although one has a marking that is invisible on the other.
Unknown country of origin
Markings : Mag #1 has a stamped
S on the back. Mag #2 has no obvious markings.
Both have narrow, straight base tabs.
Both have blued followers, with only 1 hole in the front. They also have slight circular manufacturing defects on the followers.
Bodies are black enamel. they both have recesses for baseplate removal.
Rib/spines have a horizontal stake at ~70 mm above the bottom.
Baseplates are rectangular and non-protruding, with a small hole. The bottom indents do have a raised border around the outside.
The latching lug on the back looks very unique, with a strange circle in them instead of a classic looking stake through the middle.
Mag #3 -
Unknown country of origin
Markings : a distinct underlined
U on the front. I suppose if you look at it horizontally it could also be
IC
Wide, tapered side tabs
Blued follower, with 3 holes total.
Body is black enamel. It has the recess for baseplate removal.
Rib/spine has a horizontal stake at 75 mm above the bottom.
Baseplate has large circular hole and protrudes out the back. The indents on the bottom of the baseplate, for catching the body, are borderless.
I believe this one is probably Belgian, with an interesting marking I've yet to read about.
