Long time lurker here. Been researching a while and figured it was time to finally find a fal. I had remembered a pawn shop near where I went to college had fal mags about ten years ago. I decided to swing by and sure enough they had the same mags at the same price ($20 each). They had about 30. Most were rusted or full of dents. I picked these five out. One appears almost new and still had dried grease on it. The silver one is aluminum that had black paint on it. The two black ones were in nice condition. The Rhodesian painted one needed some repairs but I mostly bought that one because it looked cool. I got all five for $84 otd which I thought seemed great in todays market.

I may go back and dig through the rusty ones and see if any can be saved.

If you see anything of interest let me know as I’m still learning what’s what in the Fal world B156EE9F-245B-489E-AEAD-75127CB8A8A6.jpeg D0EBB81E-F907-4096-959C-C0F9B737A670.jpeg 664C26BF-427D-411C-9F45-1917BC94A0EA.jpeg E6FBD247-64C1-4D6F-8884-34FB21B3F6AB.jpeg

Definitely, dig for some more serviceable mags.

A little rust can be dealt with as long as the bodies are straight.

Tiny dings and dents usually don't affect function either, especially if they are near the bottom of the body.

See if they have more with the yellow Rhodie paint. People here will buy them.
They had one more that had better paint but a large dent in the side about halfway up that had the follower jammed. I debated buying it because it looked cool and next time I’m in the area I’ll swing by. I remember looking at this exact Rhodesian painted one ten years ago so I’m sure they will all still be there

Went back and bought six more. Five have paint on them, the sixth has a word scratched in it that’s hard to read. All need cleaning and some minor adjusting but they appear to all be functional (one has the follower stuck sideways that’s why it isn’t all the way up in the photo). This is prior to cleaning and disassembly. The remaining mags they have are all missing parts or really pitted 5D4E7C15-D2BF-44FF-92D3-326A8419DCC0.jpeg 7BAF0036-B620-4977-B534-CFC8BB051407.jpeg 48CB8CD8-E7B6-45A8-A0A3-46CC2295C2A8.jpeg

The bottom middle one has a different style follower with BR stamped in the middle with a spot you have to depress for removal.

I also noticed one of the mags there had a homemade baseplate out of some sort of thin sheet metal

Those look like they will clean up fine. Straighten the baseplates and check that the mag springs are in properly, sometimes they get put in incorrectly leading to stuck followers.

Nice find!
Yep, pretty much the way folks want their Rhodie mags to look. 😜 Nice pickups!
