Brownells sells a set of "match" gauges that includes gauges in .001" increments from 1.630" to 1.638"

This might seem like overkill for a one-time-project. I'm not a gunsmith. But, I use my set all the time. If you do much with .308 rifles, you will find the cost of the set as money well spent.

Thank you gents, next time I'll try to keep my eyes open when I'm reading something!

Mr Jeter, this will be my first .308 rifle but I do plan to have more (M1A and maybe a bolt gun or two). How should I decide which increments to purchase? Thanks for your time,

Brick
