I am suggesting that we might consider a Lever Action Rifles sub forum.

Lever Actions are used on deer successfully at 100 yards or so; 30-30, 35 Remington, 357Mag, 38-55, 44 mag, 45 Colt and 45-70, all take deer with almost 30-40 Krag velocities, but with more weight, except maybe the 357Mag.

The 1895 Winchester is a lever action too, and has been re-issued in 30-40 Krag, 270, 30-06 and 405 Winchester
Fascinating guns.

An 1866 Uberti "Yellowboy" in 45 Colt, with 250gr lead, or an XTP at 1000 fps, will do deer very well; big holes; same with the follow on 1873.

Uberti also sells the 1876 Model, in 40-65, 45-60, 45-75 and 50-75 and kill deer too. Smokeless powder loads exist for all of them and all are made of modern steels.

Winchester has produced thousands of Commemerative, Lever Action special issues too.

Sometimes you just have to leave the 375H&H at home or the 450 Bushmaster or 6.8SPCII..

The pistol calibers guns are cheaper to shoot, too.

I suspect that plenty on the board own the above guns and shoot them.

I have seven lever-action rifles. Three Marlin 336s, all in .30-30, but from three different decades, starting with a '49 SC and also a '52 Marlin 39A .22. My three Savage 99s are a 1951 99EG in .300 Savage and a '66 99E in .308 along with a '67 99E in .243. Both of the 99Es have taken deer on our place, and I've shot shoot five so far with that .308, along with a big wild boar. I like how lever-actions seem to be a direct link back to the Industrial Revolution, with their levers and cams, and lifts and spools, etc. Hell yeah, I add a vote for a lever lover's forum. :)

I'm getting ready to install a Marbles Tang sight on the Buffalo Bill. It has the 26" Octagon barrel.

Marlin 336 in .35 Remington from the 1980s. But if you add a lever action forum, add a 300 AAC Blackout forum. They aren't going away.

Does anybody make a decent peep sight that drops in for the blade site?

I've got several, going from .22LR to .45 Colt. My favorite is a custom 1894 Marlin that I had built by Ranger Point Precision. It started out as a .44 Magnum, but is now chambered in .357-.44 Bain & Davis. Nothing like sending a 125gr. hollowpoint down range at approx. 2,000fps. Wish I still had the Model 27 S&W that I had chambered for the same cartridge. Talk about a hand cannon.

I am not a big lever gun fan, but I have several. One of my favorites is a "new" Winchester 1895 in .30-06. I shoot 220gr RN out of it and I like it a lot. I just got my first for me Winchester 94, A Teddy Roosevelt shooter with a 24" octagon and a 2/3 magazine. I have several Marlin 1894's in the usual pistol calibers. One other one I like a lot is a Rossi/Taurus 92 in .45 Colt with a 24" stainless octagon barrel and a full length magazien tube. It loves cast 250gr.

I imagine the hammer fall makes more noise than the bullet does.
I’ve only shot super sonic so far...which is pleasant....I’m waiting for some factory subs.

or I’ll get off my butt and start loading for it...
I’m guessing that will be way funner.
