Is there a complete parts break down diagram out there so that I can identify every little piece and screw. I would do you a service if you could help me get what I am looking for.
Thanks,
Robert Custer

Parts ID

I think there is a good parts description in the FN manuals. They have been reproduced from the original Belgian manuals hundreds of times. The photo reproductions are very dark and don't come out well, but the drawings are ok. TAPCO and probably other sites sell them.

The numbers correspond to those on smaller pieces of the whole picture that DSA uses in diagrams for various groups of parts. I don't think the entire picture I posted is still available from them online.

I was incorrect. Looking at www.dsarms.com, they do have a complete schematic. Click on the second block down on the left side of the screen, labeled "SA58/FAL Schematic PDF" for a larger file than the one I previously posted.

Metric Front Sight (IMBEL, 2-dot)

Here's a drawing I've made of Part # 12, the Metric front sight. This particular unit is an IMBEL two-dot sight.

I'm working on CAD drawings with dimensions for all the parts of the FAL. If you have measured drawings or blueprints, please let me know.

return springs

the drawing posted by lenny shows an inner & outer return spring. (1 of each) are they BOTH needed? mine only has 1 spring (outer, I think) and chambers a bit sluggish on a dummy round. I have not taken to the range yet as I don't see much sense having a 20 round mag & have to manually close the bolt every time.

I don't think I've ever seen a diagram or schematic that names the parts by name on the diagram itself. Everything I've seen just assigns a number to the respective parts. You then cross-reference the number to a sequential list.
