Heard on the local news today that the student pilot in that T-45 crash was the one who came down into the power lines.
Poor guy caught fire, he's in serious condition. Some Ensign with his whole career ahead of him. Unreal.
Throw him some positive vibes or prayers if you're so inclined.

The reality of flying life. Flee Omaha ahead of storms, taxi out at ORD to discover a problem, go back to gate, miraculously find another plane, and wait 90 minutes to load the damned luggage, while hoping flight ops don’t get shut down. That’s flying “life.”

Mike you forgot to mention the relief tube. 😅

My grandfather talked of B-25s in the pacific that Air Corps guys had wedged 90mm field guns in somehow. Fixed forward firing machine guns were set for converging fire at some fixed point, and the cannon was dialed in for the convergence. Cannon was fired when they saw the MG rounds converge on the target. Said it was nasty against ships.
My Marine Uncle flew the same model B-25 off the Carolinas doing submarine patrol. There were 6 or 8 M=2's in the nose and on the fuselage pointing forward and a 75mm Howitzer attached to the airframe and running the barrel out the front plexi. He said you had to have the plane in a dive when you fired the 75mm because the recoil would cause the plane to stall in level flight. He said it was like the plane stlopped when the cannon went off.
