So it looks like I am the proud owner on an FN49 chambered in 8MM. my first impulse to feed it is the surplus market but most sellers warn of duds and hang fires with almost all the surplus available (Greek, Turkish, Egyptian) and recommend it for bolt action.
So my question....what are my options for off the shelf 8mm to feed my new friend?

I never thought I'd be paying a dollar a round and using new ammo in my milsurps but since I'm finally spending quality time with my PUSnipers and discovering nearly all the thousands of rounds of various milsurp 54r shoots like crap I am doing just that.

The 1950s Yugo 8mm shoots phenomenally out of my M48 and M76. Supposedly not great in semi autos due to hard primers. I had one pierce in my M76 many years ago but have fired plenty of since. Never ran it through my M49.

I have a lot of that 1990s M75 Yugo/Serbian surplus (probably made by PPU). Other than being corrosive I probably believed the hype that it was designed sniper or DMR ammo (and meant for the m76). It doesn't really shoot much better than anything else I've ever run. In fact the 1950s stuff may do better in my M48. Ran great in my M49 but you'll probably not find any out there. Dried up years ago.

Turk is absolutely too hot and cases brittle for semi autos. That stuff ran miserably through my M76 and M49 when I didn't know better and frankly glad neither was damaged.

What's the story with the Greek? I've got a pretty good load of 1940s that I've never used. Never read any problems or dangers other than it's obviously corrosive.

I also have a lot of Czech 8mm that I've never fired. Folks say it's actually Bulgarian misadvertised as Czech

I have been shooting Bulgarian circle 10, 54r in my PU mosin and it has been grouping under 2 inches without much effort at 100 yds
