Standard AUG flash suppressors have always been two piece, though the civilian version is not threaded for a BFA, or has the spring circlip for sealing a rifle grenade.

Also the civvy type, both pieces are removed/installed with a wrench, where the military version has a tool which threads into the muzzle to attach or remove from the rifle, while using a 19mm wrench on the lower two-piece portion holding it steady under force, once the flash slits are lined up, the top portion is held steady, then the lower second portion is tightened. Previously, one must ensure thread locker is used.

Elec/Mech Instructions mention nothing about timing, just removal and installation, which is a common RAEME tasking due to the interbar for M203PI, as the FS must be removed, along with the bayonet standard to install it.

This interbar for the M203PI is only fitted on 508mm rifle barrels, and not 407mm carbine barrels.
