So the gas tubes I have are a 15.5” Anderson AR10 rifle length and it is in the keyway cut but a little on the long side. The other is a generic AR15 rifle length and it measured 15.125”. It just reaches the front of the keyway cut. Guessing the longer one will work as long as it does not bottom out on the carrier. Really need a 15.375” to be a perfect fit. Not sure what they drill the port to actually fit
Here is a pic of
it. View attachment 358847
Just checked and both of mine are around halfway or a touch past halfway through the cut. Now assuming the cut is located the same in the different uppers....I guess it will require your BCG to find out for sure.

ALSO check that your gas block is intended to butt up against the barrel shoulder, and not leave room for a handguard retainer. Some barrel still leave around 1mm for the HG retainer if they are designed for a FSB. Pretty annoying to have to space the gasblock off the barrel shoulder.

I actually cut up a retainer to create a round spacer for a barrel that had the gas port spaced for a FSB.

Armalite and LR308 are two different specs which is why the Armalite gas tube is longer. BUT some LR308 barrel have the gas block/port further forward using the Armalite spec.
Gas tubes at 15.4" ended up exactly at the center of the BCG receiver cam cut out on my two LR308 builds using Wilson Combat Tactical Hunter barrels. One with a Wilson Combat BCG and the other rifle using an Odinworks BCG. The BCG's both WC and OW after careful examination looked to be identical so I'm quite sure they are both sourcing them from the same manufacturer. Besides the 18" barrels from Wilson Combat what worked on my two builds was an Aero Precision 308 Carbine buffer assemblies using the 3.6 oz buffer, both WC and OW BCG's at 18.6 oz, RifleSpeed adjustable gas blocks using one size up from their smallest plunger size with straight 15.4" gas tubes. I'm able to run very low powered NATO and hotter 308 at 6 and 8 gas settings. I don't run a suppressor so I don't know how my setup would work for that but I think I still have plenty of settings left to lower the gas while running a suppressor.

Got all my parts today  Crappy charging handle. Will replace with something of decent quality. Need to check headspace before taking to range. Did hand cycle mag full of dummy round and they ejected in a nice little pile. Hope to take it out next week to test fire. image.jpg

I was just pointing out that you used “Armalite” and “LR308”, interchangeably In the same sentence, regarding the gas system.

“White Oak Armament states that 15.4" is the correct Armalite specification and worked perfect on my two LR308 builds.“

Just semantics. Good info regardless. Thanks for posting…I have to double check my buffer weights as I probably added a tungsten weight when buzzed and didn’t log it anywhere.

Awesome!! Move that scope back a bit ;) Onve it runs right you will be addicted. As I mentioned my first was a constant struggle, but once I figured out the gas system it’s been easy since.

Just dig out my superlative gas block I forgot I had. Gonna keep it in the range bag in case mine gets finicky tomorrow. Can’t find that damned Larue trigger though…

A lot of different contradicting info online so was relying on what White Oak Armament had told me while custom ordering my gas tubes. They stated that the 15.4" Armalite specification was also correct for the DPMS pattern LR308 rifles. Can't say if this would be correct for everyone's AR308/LR308 builds but it worked out perfect for my builds. I also had no interference issues when running the 15.5" gas tube I was talking about in the video but ended up running the 15.4" in both rifles to be on the safe side.

If that scope mount is bridging the gap between the receiver and forend, yer gonna want to move that back. That condition is never a recipe for success.

I got one of those fancy Bravo Company charging handles with the extra-grippy latch-lever for my DPMS 308

Me and my shooting buddy went out when it was 8 degrees to see if any of our guns would malfunction just from being really cold.

That damn thing would un-latch itself on almost every shot, and fly back and bop me in the nose.
I can't remember if I ever got around to changing it back to the original handle. I'm not sure I cleaned that gun either.
I got a lot of dirty guns around here. I'm slipping.
I can probably find a Glock or some shit that will go off though.

All the other guns acted right during the cold-test.
But my nose was running like a faucet.
I hope I never have to go to hell with my "Go To Hell" rifle.
I'm soft.

This thing is pretty hard. At least when it flies back and hits you in the nose.

I use milspec charging handles or steel and add an extended release if rifle needs it. Dont need no stinking $70 to $100 charging handles. Save that money for a better barrel or another build.

Edit: If anyone has any of the high speed/low drag $75 and higher charging handles they hate I will take them off your hands. Funny how often someone picks up one of my rifles with a milspec charging handle have added an aftermarket latch found for $4.99 or less at CDNN, Centerfire Systems, Red Barn, etc and comments on how much a "premium charging handle" helps. I just let them keep assuming it's high dollar stuff in case they want me to build them an upper.
