Back in the 1970s, I bought a couple of thousand .30 Cal. bullets from someone on the Shotgun News.
Turns out they really were .30 Cal., like .300". They were actually 7.35 Carcano bullets (128gr). The bullet weight should have been a give-away but, being stupid, it didn't connect in my brain.
I ended up shooting a lot of them in .308 Win., mostly in an HK91. They actually shot pretty well with full power loads. That might be partially because of the construction of the bullet, where the base could be 'bumped' enough to expand to fill the bore (more or less).
That's my story and I'm sticking to it...
