DSA Aussie cut receivers are back again.

Post by MikeD718 »

The forged Aussie receivers are back in stock at DSA. If you missed out last month here’s your chance. I built a kit on one of the first run receivers. Everything went together fine and the rifle functions great.

Is the falfiles discount still a thing?

I suspect not. Things got a little rocky for a bit.
I got the DSA email too.

DSA doesn't need the falfilers any more.

Got the e-mail, and even a line on a kit, but didn't drop the hammer and now it's too late...You'd think I'd learn by now.

Anyone built on one of these yet? I got lucky and ordered one on the second round. A few questions about fitment.
Any issues with top cover?
How’s the magwell?
Is the mag release spring hole correct for commonwealth spring?
How is the lock up to the lower?
Any issues with the charging handle slide fitting or gliding freely?
On three of the four above questions are issues with a Brit cut DSA that I was intending to use for a 1A1 build but sending it back for a refund. It’s been on the shelf for a couple of years and I finally said fug it and got an RMA.
My Aussie is built on a CAI import Imbel(cut for commonwealth top cover, charging handle and mag) that I’ll just send out to GP for him to do the exterior lightning cuts for the 1A1.

I just completed two Aussie L1A1s from first batch. I did not run into any problems. First build required .253 and second build required .263 locking shoulder. My second build was originally built on Century IMBEL receiver. I traded the Century IMBEL for a DSA Aussie receiver from first batch.

Any issues with top cover? No
How’s the magwell? No issues
Is the mag release spring hole correct for commonwealth spring? Yes
How is the lock up to the lower? Solid lock up
Any issues with the charging handle slide fitting or gliding freely? No issues

My Upper went together last night Brit L1A1 Kit (Had to do 1911 Fitment tricks on the Locking Shoulder to get Headspace ) But I did run into Mag Catch Spring issue , seemed the Mag Catch Spring was too long/Strong ?? Is this indicative of the Hole Depth on Aussie Receiver or a Spring being incorrect ? Top Cover went on perfect , Magwell was GTG ,Charging Handle GTG but did not Put On lower , as the Mag Catch spring Issue finished our evening .
