Reading the reviews it sounds like a mixed bag. Others with real experience should chime in.

It is hard to complain much for a $299 kit these days however......

PSA deleted my comment about receiving worthless rusted FAL mags from this same batch. They also refused a return. The magazines were converted INCH mags and not Israeli.

I usually enjoy gambling on surplus, but I would not advise anyone to jump into these unless you have $300 to throw away. There’s a strong chance you will receive a mixmaster kit with missing or broken parts

yep!
The kit someone posted looked ok.
We're never going back to the days of 99.00 kits in new condition with mostly matching parts.
When you're down to the bottom of the barrel, you take what you can get, if you want one.

... Might spur me to get a 2nd FAL down the line
The truth and power of these words cannot be understated or underestimated... however, the '2nd FAL' you speak of will be but the tip of the iceberg...

Only FAL mags I've ever seen with the round count holes on the back where the Austrian STG58 mags.

Should get mine tomorrow.
As for price, a decent Bolt & Carrier will fetch $200+

Nice, Ive had far worse looking enfields and other battle rifles back in the day. Now where can we source the proper barrel and what is the proper barrel ? I see yours came with a muzzle break. I didn't think lights had one. I would like to rebuilt it correctly with an appropriate break on it but I need data as to which one to get (barrel etc) Any suggested books ?

One of my customers received the most disgusting kit one could image. Missing the bolt and some other parts, handguards crushed, gas piston bent 45 degrees. PSA refused return/exchange. Customer had to do a chargeback with his credit card company.

Got my PSA kit in today and did a little inspection/cleaning. No missing parts, nothing rusted. Stock & grip are probably in the worst condition out of everything. All metal parts have finish, gas block is actually in perfect condition. Overall I'm pretty happy given the $300 price tag. Once DS Arms has another batch of barrels I'm going to send it off to ARS to build.

How fast is the turn around at ARS ? I want to make sure that I send it off and don't have to worry. I wouldn't trust any smith in the state of Alaska (where I live ) to touch any of my guns

That's a type B stock not a type A, still pretty cool/uncommon though.

I got 2 kits one real nice shape missing the charging handle, other broken rear sling swivel, missing the rear sight, and a real dented and bent top cover. Wood real dirty but will clean up. I will build one and part out the other. All parts are non serialized, no ground marks on bolt or carrier. Metal finish in good shape, no real damage except for the top cover and rear sling swivel. Both lowers are type 2 not 1 that DSA sells. My old Izzy HB that was built on an imported Izzy type 1.5 receiver wish DSA offered that.
Ordered 20 mags all new only one with insert marks, half with Izzy marking the others new Belgian.

The wood shown so far will clean up real nice, the cracked stock, can be repaired to live on another day.
