Soo........anybody building anything fun?

Post by mace2364 »

Since apparently our usual hangouts are temporarily out of commission. So I guess I’ll be the first one to start a thread. Anyone building or working anything fun?

I can't build anything because PSA raised their prices by $10. :o

Just acquired my first two kits to have built up by a local Smith.

I don’t have a milled AK in my collection so I scooped up a demilled Arsenal SLR-96 full kit in brand new condition. This is the version with all type 3 features. No idea why it was demilled and the original receiver scraped by I figured it was a cool way to do a milled Bulgarian AK. The kit cost me $575, which I felt was good. I’ve picked up the correct Bulgarian parts to deban the gun. Still need the correct furniture. I also need a milled receiver. I can go American and get an ATM but I might hold out for a good deal on a Bulgarian unicorn if it comes around, ie a slr-100 receiver, finds it way for sale. Anyone?

Another kit I couldn’t pass up for the price that I got it on GB was a complete Bulgarian AK74 with original barrel. Probably do this one first as I just need to get a Ak74 receiver from Nodak or Childers or Recreator.

Why waste your $575 on a kit when you can build an AR for $399.95 with shipping included? :o

AR’s?! Talking AKs here. I have a few ARs already. They are boring to me. Even my SBRs.

Different strokes dude. There comes a point where you run out of ARs to build-at least for a while.

I thought this was temporary FALFiles.
Screwed together a matching STG kit on a matching serial number Coonan a couple of weeks ago.

I know one person who is building something BADASS...... the guy I sent my kit to lol. Yea, I can't build worth a shit. Old clients will tell you - the quality of my knife sheaths sets a bench mark BUT AK's, eh.... not at all.

I can however think up some stuff and the AK that I pieced together is something i have never found online anywhere. Pretty unique combination of parts. Once he finishes it, I'll try to get some pix up :)

I've built 4 more ARs in the last couple of months, bought 7 new firearms total not to mention ammo before prices became even more insane. I'm done, my allowance is spent.

I had hoped that I might be putting together another FAL by now but I missed the boat on the Aussie receivers a couple weeks ago.

I have a couple other things going though. I’m wrapping up an AR-70 build. I’m working on turning a barrel for an AR-70/90.

I also have a Tabuk sniper build that I might get going on soon. I’m cloning one I saw (and was able to take good pics of) in Iraq in 07-08. The big hang up has been the gas block-specifically not being able to find an N-Pap one. But now I think I’m just going to weld and reprofile the block in the M70B1 parts kit.

"Anybody building anything fun"

Always, otherwise I would not be building.

Some Md-65s. The other one peeking in is a Polish milled underfolder, one of two I'm working on. Most of the way there just some finish work left.

Woohoo, first post on temp forum success. :)

Also I'm a member of FalFiles but never posted. I lurked and read a lot over there. I credit those guys with helping me figure things out and how to build my first FAL, so as not to be rude,

Some Israelis I am just getting done and test firing,

I build most myself but this one I sent to Two Rivers. My thinking is it will increase the value and make it easier to sell.
1983 Polish AKMSL with the original matching NSP-3 Night vision scope. One of only three with matching scopes in the states.
Also has an original polish barrel from the 80's
