He definitely was one of those special niche-type actors,who filled a specific role,very well. Very difficult to make someone not his build or age look and act the way he could.
Its strange,though,how even the actors we came to know from the 80's,90's...are literally falling off mantle as far as their persona on-screen was perceived. Actors we imagined were pretty solid turn out to be empty nothing-bags of flaming liberalism.
Damn I thought he died 2 decades ago. I ate oatmeal all the time as a kid because he used to say it was the right thing to do and he had a trusting face. RIP

Lived not far from our place in south Utah. Wasn't aware he was a local. I remember when he lived in Kellogg, ID and was when he started doing the Diabetes commercials. He also did the Quaker Oats commercials before that.
