I listen to all kinds. Used to hang out at a dump of a bar to listen to some bluegrass. Now, there are times I feel the need to listen to train robbing music Ill listen to The Dead South. If you can imagine a Indian, a hillbilly, a Texan, and a Amish dude getting together to sing a murder ballad you got my favorite song. Devil Makes Three and Shakey Graves too.
Admit it, you are a Doug Kershaw and Buckwheat Zidaco fan!
Buckwheat’s version of Hey Good Lookin is pretty damn good. Believe it or not, Im even into polka. I had my best friend from college take me to a place a few years ago that does polka dance and had an 80 year old guy ask me to dance. The gentleman literally danced me out of my shoes but it was a helluva crazy night to remember.

Love me some Bluegrass. Here are some of my favorite Bluegrass bands, Dead South, Poor man's Poison, Devil Makes Three, and Billy Strings.

I am in NO WAY musically inclined but I love it when you get surprised by how someone uses their instrument.

A FALFILER posted this a while back, sweet beauty too

Used to go all the time to the VERY local outdoor bluegrass festivals/concerts when I lived in Dallas, Georgia -- get a tip, off the country highway a ways...

Those north Georgia mountains hold all types of gems.

Largely done with other music forms. Still enjoy some old outlaw country, even some modern outlaw-type stuff (i.e. won't be on the radio, doesnt fit the mould), but bluegrass is mostly what I listen to now.

Modern commercial country is the most awful of any music. Ever.

Semi related but if you guys want some good wholesome family band check out.

The Petersons. Use youtube or whatever.

They do covers and are just relaxing.

I keep them on the living room TV for ambiance and so the kids get good music influence.

One of my regular listens is a group of modern players, headed up by a fella named Steve and his group is called the Steep Canyon Rangers. It is more instrumental, but ol Steve sings a lick or two depending on the song. He is one heck of a banjo picker, for a comedian.

Steve Martin has had the banjo as part of his stand up routine just about from day one.

Steve occasionally plays with them but they do just fine when he doesnt. I wouldnt consider him core to the band. Or much more than an infrequent guest player.

Check out Yonder Mountain String Band. Been around for a little while, and a little different, but they are really good. Have some good originals and I saw them do "come together" a few years back and it was pretty damn cool

Very much. I piddle around with a five string resonator every now and then, but if you were to get me drunk, I’d admit I’m more of a claw hammer old timey bum diddy player than pure Scruggs style, although I can fake it well enough.

Don't tell me those licks that these guys were laying down in the 1940s weren't a part of the germ of rock and roll.
Not hardly. Big Joe Turner, Louis Jordan, and other jump blues artists provided more of the genesis of rock & roll.

But if you want some hot Earl, try this one from the early fifties:

For you lucky enough to have a "good" ear, you'll appreciate what's going on in this song. You may not like the music but you can't denie the talent. All star crew on stage. https://youtu.be/rVl1ibykWZU
Good Grief! I’ve listened to that piece countless times, and I hear something new that catches me off guard everytime I play along.
Some serious gifts there. My Scruggs thumb needs exercising.

Channel 62 on Sirius is my traveling music.

My favorite version of OBS. Just because the girl playing fiddel is cute and the camera person keeps panning to her feetses. Would. Smash.
