High Standard Hombre

I picked this up last year from Allan Schisel (Allan's Armory). It's a nine-shot .22LR revolver, made in 1970. It was in pretty good shape, and when I tried to touch up the bluing with a Birch-Wood bluing pen, I found that it has an aluminum frame. I also discovered that in spite of appearances, it is single and double action. I remember seeing these at our local Western Auto back in the early '70s and thought they were neat little pistols then.

These pics were taken just after receiving it, before any real clean up or touch up. She's a good little shooter too. I'm glad to have it in my collection.

Nice...my Dad has one, a twin to yours. he'd shoot grouse with it while on river fishing / camping excursions up north. I remember shooting it at about age 11...it's still has all the bluing, currently a safe queen.

Nice. Didn't know Western Auto sold revolvers back in the day. Somewhere in the back of a safe I have a Western Auto .22 semi-auto rifle and a .410 bolt action shotgun. IIRC both carry the Revelation brand name. Often wondered if they had any value. I would image thousands were sold.

That looks like it's sort of a cross between a High Standard Sentinel and a Double Nine. I never knew they made that model, but it looks like a neat little gun. High Standard put out some really nice guns back in the day. I really miss them.

Thanks Zeke! I found the original description from Allan Schisel, and it was made in 1970. I'd love to have one of the old High Standard semi-auto .22s. But, probably not enough to pay the asking price.

The High Standard Sentinels and Double Nines have been bringing strong prices for me. They are gaining in collectibility. Nice find.

That's good to hear, thanks a lot! It's a fun pistol to shoot too.
