I don't hunt much anymore, but follow the FB link for a pic of my younger brothers Whitetail. 214lbs dressed, his fourth 200lb+ buck.

Took my first deer yesterday. Passed up on three does in the morning and took this 8pt buck in the afternoon about 30 min to sunset.

Congrats to everyone in the thread that went out, whether you got a deer or not. If you got a deer, so much the better. NVCDL, congrats on your first!! I'm hoping my 13 y/o daughter will go out with me a few more times before I become "unclean". She still talks to me, so I hope it stays that way. No, really, we have a good relationship, but she is a teenage girl, and hunting isn't as cool as it once was for her.

I went out a few times for bow season with my crossbow. No deer even seen. Lots of other stuff, though.

Big yote...

There are some bun buns and squirrels around. I need to small game hunt here

Opossum

No deer in front of this camera, but they are around. Tracks everywhere. The landowners walk all over with their dogs so I don't really have to worry about cover scent.

Finally got 'er done this morning just before 8. Shooting light was 7:08. Small basket 8, but the tenderloins were tasty for lunch. Third day of gun season here, and second day out. Saw 8 does Friday morning (opening day) but no shot once they busted me. Saw a buck wander through just out of range due the underbrush that morning, too.

.450 Bushmaster did the job. He only went about 40-50 yards. I recovered the bullet and jacket. Only retained 154 grns - 250 grn bullet when it started. Not sure what other folks are seeing.

My gun season is over now. It is still in for the next week, but I will be traveling and unable to hunt.

When I do get back home, it will still be late bow season all the way up into mid January.

I did go out this morning before church for a couple of hours, but no "bullwinkle" came past and I won't drop a doe with a rifle.

The Garand was "itchy" but I managed to let this little guy walk on by in the sunrise. Beautiful just to sit and watch sometimes.

There will be another opportunity with my stick & string.....I hope. The bigger does better beware then

GREAT deer gentleman!

I took the week off from hunting but hitting this week again. Ive got another deer tag to fill and my son has one too so God willing it will be an eventful week.

Ive seen some nice animals on the game cameras. The rut is full on in Northern Idaho so things are moving around.
Sadly my bear season is over and I didn't punch a tag. Funny that the spot I got a bear last year has alot of movement!

Then there is this beautiful North Idaho white tail....He has eluded me for two years now, only coming out after dark, and after I punch my tag usually.
We named him "Mr Magnificent"
Im praying my son gets a shot on him.
