I was always interested in their 357 1911's. Very glad I never bought one.

This is very sad. Just a few years ago, Coonan was touted by many here as the top FAL receiver manufacturer. Nobody else came close.
Then everything went sideways.

Maybe the gun parts were sold to somebody like Numrich? They still buy out retiring gunsmiths and shops closing down.

Hmmm . . . . do places like this ever sell their intellectual property? Like design specs, drawings, programs, to manufacture FAL receivers? That would be quite useful.

Exactly. I can have recievers made a mile from here. Want drawings, fixtures, etc. that’s what’s needed. Looks like someone else got them- who?

2 computer monitors for sale. Not the computer. To have all the coding for the machine tools and such would be nice as well

P'rolly keeping the Intellectual Property for another Phoenix like rise from the ashes. I imagine that the IP was never an asset of Coonan Inc.
Dan Coonan is nothing if not resourceful, and dishonest.

Retaining IP would be the intelligent thing to do. Anybody can buy a used Haas, but the programming will cost as much or more than the machine.

I was interested too, until I handled one. Felt rough. Way too rough for a $1400-$1700 pistol. Glad I passed, too.

Coonass has jacked up folks for decades, years before his entry into FAL receivers
There are three, at least three generations of Coonan .357 pistols The first gen guns were remarkable. frames & slides from bar stock The guns were farmed out, much of Coonan products always have been on the .357 auto loaders they were totally subcontracted Early guns were incredible not sure when they did it but eventually Coonan went to investment castings Third generation guns were a complete crap shoot Problem was they changed enough of the design the 1st gen pistols were not really interchangeable with later generations. so yeah major hand fitting seem to recall they changed up the firing pin and extractor design in Gen Two Gen Three guns have slightly different lock work and barrel to slide mating look the same externally, different internally I bought a mess of parts from subcontractors in the 90s for 1st Gen guns one of their main contractors was in Souix City 1st time he went under he left them holding an empty bag. Finished frames, slides, barrels, etc heaped in a scrap dumpster. Way I heard it, Dan was into the shop already for tens of thousands when they cut him off. Coonan folded into bankrupt... smaller parts were built around the Twin Cities also contracted out New in the box 1st Gen's still crop up in Minnesota One character we knew ended up with a stack of NIB .357s when Danny folded. He had worked with no wages for some six or more months, one day the doors were locked. No one was told On the FAL receivers, again they were not being manufactured by Coonan hate to burst bubbleheads here but they were just slightly higher quality Hesse, one of Danny's bros Okay, one outfit did the castings Hesse did the machining Coonan cleaned them up, marked and finished them Yeah that's why there's no specific tooling or prints Coonan FAL receivers were just a nicer Hesse product you meatheads, the operations were local to Minneapolis/St. Paul for the most part Coonan never made one FAL receiver in house, they are just rebranded Hesse products ![]() this is heavy duty here DPMS shares contractors with JP Enterprises for example both were somewhat in bed with Hesse as their subcontractor Century demanded receivers dirty cheap, Hesse made them and dirty cheap for Century Monkeys to build upon it's just laughable this is not understood |

From what I understand they used the molds from Hesse and they did the machining
