Libyan contract inch mag, worth anything special?

Bought a couple of mags from sarco for some shooting mags, I'm not a collector of oddities in magazines. In among them was a ST marked mag, which from the information I gather here, appears to be Libyan contract. Its a inch mag, with an unmolested inch lug. Was not converted to metric as many seem to have been. Some wear for sure, but mostly still good on the finish.

Question is, how much are they worth? If its not much more than just a standard mag, Ill keep it as a shooter. If it its more collectible, I might pass it along and just pick up another shooter

I use to believe those were Libyan, but I haven't found any evidence that they are. At the last Knob Creek mgs, Sarco had an entire box of those that looked brand new. I asked where they got them from and he said South Africa. This seems to make more sense to me as they're a blend of FAL and L1A1 and with South Africa being a commonwealth nation. Perhaps they were the first runs when the metric pattern was adopted?

As to the part you really wanted to know, I don't believe they carry any extra value. They aren't worth the same as L1A1 mags and parts aren't interchangeable with FAL mags, making it more expensive to replace. I would guess $20-25.

As a common wealth mag, it's worth what some one will pay. As parts, figure $50.00 in pieces. Common wealth mag springs are unobtainium, and as are like new floor plates & followers. Used mags go for $25.00 to $50.00 depending on maker and condition. Why not keep it, and save up for a common wealth rifle to use it in?

Libyan contract would have a metric beak and an inch base. Yours is true inch—inch beak and inch floor plate.

thanks for the info, will definitely just keep it then.

And yes I do already have me a commonwealth L1A1. That's what the mags were bought for.

its a ex- century sporter, Imbel receiver with inch mag cut, they built it on a nice British kit. Currently sporting a re-threaded muzzle, and Australian wood all around. I figure its already a mix master with the receiver, so mixed nationality with furniture is not too concerning.
