Is There Any Survival Use For Magnolia Seeds?

We have dozens of magnolia trees in our area and this time of year there are hundreds of seed pods on the ground. I was wondering if the red seeds have any survival/prepper type use? If you cannot eat them or make a tea from them, is their essential oil of any use,i.e. medicinally? Scents for candles or soaps?

TIA,

Jarhead
