Bula build shooting way too high!

So I made it to the CMP Talladega range last week and got a chance to fire my 19.25" barrel Bula Defense M-14. Bula assembled the barrel and receiver & headspaced it, so I just finished it with a USGI kit from Windy City. Barrel is USGI profile. The kit parts looked brand new. This is my 'just a shooter' rifle.

With the rear sight bottomed out, it was shooting about 9" high at 100 yards. We were all stumped. What is going on?

You may need a taller front sight, or even a slight barrel "tweek". I had one do the same thing (12" high @100) and a tall front sight from SA cured the problem.

Shorter barrels like yours require a taller sight that a 22".
Standard USGI will not work.

I would check with Fulton, LRB, Brownell's or Midway for a start.

Other way around because of sight radius to comply with geometry of rear sight.

Oh - because on the FAL the sight radius is constant, and the shorter barrel needs shorter sight. On the M1A, the sight is moved back changing the sight radius.
Yes?
