Honey Creek Industries STGW-57

I've always wanted a PE-57, this might fit the bill if the production guns run as well as the prototype.

COOL! I contend that the PE 57 is the ugliest assault rifle in the world and I love it!

Now if they can just keep the price to something reasonable, I will have one!

Wow...the prototype is already commanding over 3K with 4 days left in the bidding. I hope that the price of production guns can make it under 2K...but it's obvious there is a demand with GB bidding so the 2K mark might just be a wish.

STGw-57

Worth every penny.

That having been said, I wish there were more readily available magazines for it, or a version of the receiver that took more readily available mags. Whose, I don't know. While I have a whole bunch (50 or so) good metric FAL mags, I have even more for my PTR-91, and man, are they still cheap.

Yikes...Bidding is just south of $4500 for the prototype on GB right now. If it is the manufacturer selling it, they might be able to make a few guns from the profits.

No, that's not the manufacturer selling it. He lives nearby and is a close friend. Although, those are his pics and that's his table. We've taken many a rifle apart on that table in the living room!

You snooze, you lose!

I wonder if they were sucked up by HCI or someone else who's tooled up to build them. I don't think there were very many of them available.

so wait a minute ,let me get this straight.

a few places (as in more than one so ive read) are ramping up a receiver that has just barely even come to market to build guns on customer supplied kits that arent available for purchase anymore (already ??)..and people think these guns will be under 2 k ?

HUH ?

i though these kits were being imported in abundance ? (hense the all talk of a under $2k STGW parts gun)

i was waiting for the new kits to be imported recently that have been talked up for months before i bought a few

so,,, where are the kits "that are being or were" apparently imported recently that arnt for sale anywhere now ??

did i miss them ? where were they for sale ?

When I get mine, you can check it out. I already have the Hensoldt scope and mount and a pile of mags for it.

Smile When will the receivers or build service be available

Been waiting a long time for any more info to surface. Some rumors in the past about receivers being available in the future but that was 2 years ago. I have my original AMT and a STG-57, but also some kits that i bought maybe 5 years ago.Impossible to remove the cut receiver off the front trunion as it appears to be brazed or welded in. I guess you could mill it off carefully. Who made the prototype? if anybody knows. What are the near term chances for a build service on kits some people in the weeds have from years ago like me. Hope this thread stay alive

lots of parts

It takes lots and lots of parts to make one. I took my AMT apart once and it took me 2 months to get itall back to run right. When ever i was thought i was done i always had one part left over. Got a friend in switzerland to get me the service manuals all in german for the stg 57 and the SIG 550. In about 1999 i was able to get a 550 and a 551 for less than $4000 for both. What a deal. No chance anymore 551 are as scarce as hens teeth, but were readily avail befor 2000.
Hope this thread does not die or take an extended vacation We all want more sigs

I would like to get factory training on ground up manufacture and assembly for those rifles, and one more thing, where can a stock of barrels be had that are as good as the Swiss made? 2MOA @400M, if the FAL would do that great but its not gonna happen.

That's the part right there that most guys don't get and will never get until you handle an original SIG made rifle. NOTHING that will come to market will be even a fraction as good as original Swiss parts. A large part of what makes these rifles so great is the very fact that they are Swiss made to perfection. Take that factor away and what's the point?? I know the above sounds elitist. But spend some time with a real one and you'll understand. IMO, a 510 has to be Swiss made or it's just silly nonsense.

As for taking one apart and having problems with it after reassembly, I don't get that. These rifles are simple in design. It's the Rolex Quality of the manufacturing process that's so complex.

Well, as far as "Who made the prototype, it was a group effort between myself, my friend Steve, my BNL and a company farmed out later for the manufacture of the dies that will form the receiver.

Here is the prototype taken apart some time back.

And, together.

Up close.

disassembly?

the only problem i had was when i took a part the trigger pack to install a new winter trigger. Its a beast to do. But regular cleaning is a snap. One twist and the buttstock is off and the rifle almost falls apart for interior cleaning.

Any of you ever think of going to Switzerland and shipping back Found parts or whole rifles?

Whole rifles, not legal. The best you will be able to do is a parts kit.

Last I looked you could buy these rifles for $300 in Switzerland. I'd hate to see some of them chopped up into parts kits. I'd prefer instead the 1989 ban be rescinded.

I have some great memories of visiting Switzerland 20 years ago and seeing these rifles shot. At that time the reservists still commonly used these rifles.

parts from switzerland?

I still have friends in Switzerland. What parts for a STG57 could they leagelly ship to me with the exception of the receiver naturally.

A few years ago, DSA was selling both SIG 510-4 and StGw-57 kits, including the barrel.

As a matter of fact, DSA had brand new SIG 510-4 barrels for about $150 each if you bought two, and other new parts for the 510-4 too...

For what it's all worth...

APEX Gun Parts has Swiss Stgw. 57 part sets in stock right now.
These were bought and disassembled in Switzerland (per ATF instructions) and legally imported into the USA on a form 6 (cleared US Customs with all excise taxes paid).
Each kit has one magazine included.

https://apexgunparts.com/product_inf...oducts_id/3490

Last I checked we have about 15 of these kits remaining in stock.

So I got a kit, and then I got a barrel. And then I discovered that there are some 510 barrels that are 19.5" rather than 23". So if anyone has a regular length barrel and wants a shorter barrel, PM me I'm looking to trade.

Where did you find a barrel? I am tempted to bring the Apex count down to
"about" 13...... just want to know what the chances are that a barrel can be found....

I found it on gunbroker. But you should look, the seller has more. Just be aware that they are shorter than the barrels those Apex kits would normally use, 19.5" vs 23". You could modify the kit to fit(it's just a matter of shortening the shroud), or I guess you could modify the barrel(thread the end and add an extended device). I don't really want to do either, so I'm going to keep looking.

I also spoke via email with a guy involved with HCI. There may be something forthcoming there.
