Now tell me is the FG-42 & MP-44 the real thing? How do they shoot. I've always thought the FG-42 was a real cool rifle they should have made it in 7.92 x 33 they would had a real winner.

Unfortunately they are very well done clones, that shoot the same ammo as the originals.

My main focus has always been on the German stuff. My favorites as far as collecting are the G/K43 and the K98, for shooters I like the G3, FAL, AK and M1/ M14 in that order.

Please post Tex, love to see them. The only thing I started out with back in 69 was a .22 target pistol and a Jap bayonet my Dad gave me.

Years later I often wondered how all these collectors got all this stuff and how I would pay for that broken Transmission. Here's what it takes: Time, Determination and Money. If anyone thinks I picked up all this shit overnight they are sadly mistaken. No one ever gave me anything, what your looking at is allot of hard work and late nights.

It also helps not to be into Cigarettes, Booz and gambling. lol

The only thing I do is clean them, I do not refinish collectible Firearms.
I also use Howard Feed and Wax on all wood on all Rifles. (great Product)

The Russian Captured Mauser's are a different story, I don't consider them re-finished but i do remove the Russian shellac and apply BLO/ Howard's.
If some consider that refinished so be it.

Wow Hansel very impressive indeed. I thought about posting my collection of 9 Mausers, a horde of Mosins, and a mish-mash from all sorts of countries but it would seem minuscule to what you've got there!

Here ya go Hansel, nothing compared to yours:

I'll try to get all my Mosins and the "miscellaneous" bolt actions together at some point. But there' nothing special about a dozen Mosins or a mish-mash of Enfields, MAS, Mannlichers, K31s, etc... all put together.

I'm in PA. The people at Simpson's are nice to deal with (Purchased a Swiss 1911 Carbine from them) but for the most part their prices are way too high.

Most of my C&R stuff comes from Gun Shows and GB.
Iv'e also dealt with Empire Arms, SOG, AIM. Classic Arms and Samco and a few others that I can't think of.

Here is a good place to start, this little P64 cost me under $200. 2 or 3 years back.

You don't always have to spend an arm and a leg to find something nice.
