Most Non-sensical Songs You've Ever Heard

This is dedicated to those songs that either make no effin' sense to you, or are so hilariously bad they're good.

My first vote will go to the DJ Duro song "Cocaine Motherfucker (Al Pacino Remix)". It's even the Al Pacino remix version (obviously using someone who is impersonating Pacino as Tony Montana from Scarface) for the ultimate in stupidity. The song is kinda funny just for that.

Bruce Springsteen - Blinded by the Light.

If there's any sense to those lyrics they are way beyond me.

I think you mean Manfred Mann's Earth Band...BS covered it.

EDIT: Apologies, I am wrong about this, Springsteen wrote it.

You do know that the actual lyric is "Cut loose like a duece..." right? Not that it makes any more sense, its just not a feminine hygiene product. Rather, it was a reference to a duece coupe.

The Manford Mann version was "Revved up like a duece..."

Does your chewing gum lose its flavor
on the bedpost overnight?
If your mother says don't chew it,
Do you swallow it in spite?
Can you catch it on your tonsils,
Can you heave it left & right?
Does your chewing gum lose its flavor
on the bedpost overnight?

I do, but it also like to sing “Excuse me, while I kiss this guy” when I hear a certain Hendrix tune...

A scaramouche is a type of clown or jester. So it's not too much of a stretch to ask a clown to do the fandango....

Galileo was an astronomer who lived from 1564 to 1642. He got into trouble with the Catholic Church for his theory that the Earth and the other planets circled the Sun and that the Earth was not the center of the Universe.

(What's weird is that both points of view are correct. The Earth and planets do circle (well, actually, their paths are ellipses around) the Sun. At the same time, according to the Big Bang theory and the Michelson-Morley experiment, you can say the Earth is the center of the Universe.

That being said, you can also say that any other point you choose is the center of the Universe. In fact, they performed Michelson-Morley on the Moon and the result showed it is the center of the Universe, too. Of course, it is just as valid to say that there is NO center of the Universe if everywhere is the center of the Universe.

And if you think that's weird, try your hand at Quantum Mechanics!)

Most lyrics by Yes are stream of consciousness rambles but I like them!

You are the center of the Universe. Well, your universe. Mine's a little different, offset by the distance between us. A small difference to be sure.

I thought it was Bruce first, yes.

Neither version makes any sense.

Never liked Springsteen. He had a very talented band behind him, but he could never sing for crap and most of his songs were corny/hokey. To each his own I guess, the guy was immensely popular.

Now....if anyone wants amazingly non-sense lyrics, which you can't even understand because the singer twists the pronunciation into bizarre usually unintelligible forms...check out 80's-90's 'shoegazers' the Cocteau Twins.

I've also heard cover versions sing: "scuse me, while I zip my fly".

Then there is Credence's "Bad Moon On The Rise" sung as: "There's a bathroom on the right".

To flip this post on it's head, so to speak, what about songs that sound silly that actually make a lot of sense in their original context? A case in point is "Pop Goes The Weasel". Dumb as it may sound as a children's nursery rhyme, it supposedly makes eminent sense in 19th century Cockney slang.

"Yellow Ledbetter" by Pearl Jam. No f'n clue what that mushmouth is saying.

Just goes to show that if you consider the voice an instrument of the ensemble rather than the the focal point of the song it really doesn't matter what drug-addled genius lyric is mumbled, muffled, or shouted. It can still be a good tune.

As much as I like his music, Bob Dylan is up there. Desolation Row, Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again, and a bunch of his other ones.

Apologies Tak, I was wrong about MMEB and BS.

Apparently, song writing credit for a cool piece goes to BS, who I've come to despise, based on his leftism.

Not really nonsensical, but more a novelty song...this one always makes me laugh!

I don’t know about nonsensical but in my opinion the dumbest, most pretentious rock tunes are Imagine by John Lennon, Wonderful Tonight by Eric Clapton, and We Built This City On Rock and Roll by Jefferson Starship. 💀

Damn near anything ever recorded by the beetles or any band members thereafter. Always hated blinded by the light, too. Terrible lyrics with complete with a really irritating rhythm and beat. Radio stations played it to death back in the day.

Rookies... I really had more faith in you. Until you've delved into the world of Die Antwoord you have no idea what nonsensical noise making is. To me this is the musical version of a multiple vehicle car wreck that you just have to slow down and get a good look at. Sit down, be sure to have nothing in your mouth before clicking on this...

Somehow they got invited to perform on Letterman before he retired from Late Night. He did not appear to be impressed. That's how i heard of them.

Somehow they got invited to perform on Letterman before he retired from Late Night. He did not appear to be impressed. That's how i heard of them.
That could not be any stupider no matter how hard anyone tries !

I really really really hope their intent was to do this as a joke and they don't actually believe in what they're doing as some kind of art.

Ziggy Stardust, by David Bowie

Ziggy played guitar, jamming good with Weird and Gilly,
And the spiders from Mars. He played it left hand
But made it too far
Became the special man, then we were Ziggy's band
