After six years the real work is done, so I'm playing with cover designs.

What do you think of this as opposed to the previously posted?

This volume is NOT a replacement for Skennerton's book. The focus is on individual rifles and unique markings, components, etc. in color. Almost every SLR and FAL in the Lithgow collection is depicted; like FAL Primer, left page is description, right page is photos (usually five per rifle) with the exception of the X3 F2A2 which has almost 40 photos.

I will know price within the next few days. The plan is to have the book release at Knob Creek in April.

WOW!

I want a copy of this L1A1 Aussie rifle book.

Are going to write a book on the C1, C1A1, C1D, C1A1D, C2 and C2A1?

NO. though many records aren’t far from me. I said it when we published FAL Primer- YOU guys go do the G1, Artie, etc. might do MG42, the unknowns are like FALs circa 2001.

...... that was not a Lithgow Project, that was a project (I am testing my memory here) of an Officer Cadet at Duntroon. Those two rifles (I got to handle them around 30yrs ago) are held in the Infantry Centre Museum (Singleton) collection and not at Lithgow.

If there is enough requests 'Nog promises to include "Artistic Nude Portraits" of me inside each and every edition....

I should mention that the Lithgow collection, and thus the book, includes a C1 and C2 (both 0L) that were likely sent to Lithgow for evaluation; the serial numbers do not match military issue format (per author Adams, this was likely done to avoid confusion with Canada.gov rifles, and preclude "adding digits" to make them look like a .gov rifle)

As far as the experimental bullpup, as author Aussie said, it is not included. This volume focuses strictly on the rifles in the Lithgow collection. It was tempting to start adding those in Singleton, the War Museum, etc. but that would take away from the spectacular collection at Lithgow.

The Lithgow SAF Museum collection represented in the book isn't all SLRs; Lithgow also got examples of prototypes and metric rifles for evaluation, as well as one EM-2.

LSAFM also has M2HBs, Aussie version M60, FG42, MG42, Vickers, etc. And as much as it pained us, we had to stick with the SLRs.

In all, together or individually, we made more than a dozen trips to Lithgow to compile this volume.

And order three pints of Stella.

The Aussie says “I just got out of prison for an anal sex addiction”

The Kiwi says “I have a problem being a penny miser”

The American tosses a penny on the floor, and the Kiwi immediately bends over to pick it up. The Australian does what he does, and is hauled back to prison.

The American gets to drink all three pints of Stella.

The real question is who’s going to be first to build a reproduction X3 F2A2?

Authors' Proof Copies are ordered for review. Still shooting for early April launch at Knob Creek.

I was just thumbing through the first print proof copy and noted copyright 2017. Ugh...three years to do this. I wonder if I'd put all those hours into working at McDonald's how much money I would have made. LOL.

I can't wait to get the proof copy in my hands. Printer says no later than 10 March...two weeks away. Ugh.

Sometimes, in hindsight, we can find humor in the trials of others. Now a few days past crisis, I share with you so you can have a laugh.

I eagerly awaited the three proof copies of Lithgow! Australia's Self Loading Rifle one for each of the co-authors.

The proofs traveled via UPS some 1,500 miles in 2.5 days. Then they sat- day after day- in the nearest urban USPS distribution facility. for SIX DAYS. Every day I checked, every day they didn't move. Thankfully the local PO manager leaned on them (by calling EVERYONE since none of those lazy urban PO people answer phones) and got the pallet processed. SIX DAYS.

Finally, I got a call from the local PO. The Lithgow! proofs had arrived! So I rushed up, grabbed them, and returned home.

Immediately I started the markup. It's amazing the errors one catches with a hardcopy, even after reviewing the online copy a dozen times. Not just little errors- one big error too.

So I was happily marking away a brand new proof copy in red pen, turned the page and WTF IS THIS??

Interior decorating? In my effing gun book? Yes, pages and pages of cosmopolitan greys and silvers embelishing an interior with limited natural light. Ugh!

In a panic, I checked the other copies. They are OK.

There was some back-and-forth with the printer, but it's not particularly material.

Good news is the first 20 copies are ordered an in production. Purportedly they are due here in three days. I don't think that's going to happen, but it shouldn't be too long...hopefully not more than SIX DAYS.

That's quite an exception, maybe market it to those of us whose "better half" have veto power.

"Honey, I just got you a great book on interior design..."

At first I was concerned that some confused cosmopolitan designer was going to have a heart attack when they saw evil guns in their pretty photos, but realized I had extra pages, not missing pages. Aside, the primadonna's decorating book only has 22 pages, Lithgow! Australia's Self Loading Rifle has 120 pages. So be glad you're into SLRs and not contemporary cosmopolitan grey.

Waiting and watching....

As to the "interiors" book, it just needs some SLRs tastefully photoshopped in....
