Under timed barrel

Iím trying to correct an under timed barrel, suggestions as far as how to approach this. Short barrel and the gas tube is in the way of the barrel blocks. Of course the gas tube is soldered on. Do I melt the solder. Cut the tube or how would you tackle this. Iím not a fan of putting any tension on the barrel flats.

YOu may not be a fan, but I used smooth blocks in a vise to clamp the barrel flats.

Like the fella in the thread below putting 200lbs of torque, I hate to risk rounding flats. But it may come to that.

Recommend removing gas block along with gas tube.

Knock enough off the shoulder so it doesn't come to that. You can get it to 70+ with no issue. Nah, not going to happen at 200. I smeared one and learned although the vice was a POS

You've been given several options. Clamp the barrel flats with a smooth jaw vise insert and see how tight it's on there or take the damn gas block off. Nothing wrong with using the flats as long as you don't smear them. Those tubes are silver soldered so you pull out a torch you better know your bidness
