My First AR10

Well after nearly 10 years I pulled the trigger and bought my first AR10 today. Iíve gone back and forth with getting an AR10 and have even considered selling my FAL, but I canít part with it.

I found a good deal on a lightly use LaRue OBR that came with a few upgrades. The upgrades it came with are Magpul PRS stock, Ergo grip, PRI gas buster charging handle, Griffin Armorment M4SD II muzzle break/comp, and 2 LaRue 20 round mags and 2 Magpul 20 round mags. Being that this is an older model, It came with a two stage Geissele trigger.

The guy I bought it from said he only put 200 to 300 rounds through it. When I cleaned it up when I got it home it looks like his round count isnít off, very little wear and tear. He did have it lathered up in some kind of white grease trying to cover up the fact it wasnít cleaned very good after it was used. The muzzle device had a build up of green copper fouling in the comp holes.

A few years ago, I decided that I wanted an OBR but had a hard time with the price and it has been on the wish list ever since. I really didnít think it would ever move off my wish list into reality however nearly a year after my dad passed away Iím getting a decent inheritance from his estate. My dad was the one who peaked my interest in firearms at an early age so itís kind of fitting and I think he would be ok with the purchase. He always tried to buy guns that would appreciate in value. At the price I got this one, I really cannot go to wrong with it.

It almost sounds like you are getting bullet strikes on your muzzle device,the copper (green) residue suggests that.

Muzzle devices ALWAYS collect copper spew.

Exposed to oxygen, that copper ALWAYS turns green.

TIA,

Comgrats, don't sell the FAL as will miss it and discover costs double to replace with comparable quality build when that time comes.

Congrats, you bought an excellent rifle. Best to buy quality and enjoy your experience out of the gate. Nickel and diming a build typically leads to less enjoyment and comparable (if not more expensive) cost in the long run.

OBR = great choice!

Enjoy it in good health.
