Hodgdon reload website

I have a old hornady book i use for 308 service rifle and would use the Hodgdon site for comparison. I looked today and seen they now have a 308 Winchester service rifle option.

The Hodgdon so-called service rifle data, takes the powders that should work for service rifle and then multiplies the regular maximum loads by some percentage to come up with service rifle data.

It doesn't look like real, researched and tested service rifle data.

The data from older powders still shows CUP instead of more modern PSI.

If the data was really developed recently, it all be in the same measurements.

The old powders that have CUP data still have CUP data in the service rifle data and the newer powders that have PSI data have PSI data in the service rifle data.

41.5 IMR 4895 / 168 SMK is unsurpassed for “service rifle” .308.

No need to reinvent anything for this application.

If you simply MUST use Hodgdon powders, then 41.0 H4895 or 42.0 grains Varget.

Excellent load. Been using it for years. Meters very well.

Regarding Hodgdon loads, I use 42.0gr. of H4895 with SIG Sauer brass, CCI BR2 primer and a 175gr. Sierra MK.

Yep, especially if you're reloading on a Dillon. Typical charge deviation is +/- .1
I also use TAC for what I call "rough match". Basically matching brand brass FL sized and trimmed with the Giraud. Metered and seated with the Dillon 550 always with TAC. Easily matches FGMM and Black Hills 168 match.
