Are you one of the Old Timers Here?

Ok I'm back and its been many years. Im one of the very first few here on FAL Forums when it first started. I'm wondering is any of us older members still come around here. My adventures have indeed brought forth that a number of us, well sadly have passed on. I remember we even had regional get togethers and shoots where many would exchanger information, and true friendships formed as this is and will always be the goal and intent of the sites. There was a member in PA I believe it was Jerry (?) who was here also, Marc in Arizona who did gunsmithing...I know the one person that did parts etc but he passed away, a really nice guy too. But where are you? Lets please start a thread and maybe a sticky here. We have a wealth of knowledge to share for free. I believe the original group was about 50 people, I was probably number 8 to 12 but unimportant. If your out there please post here and the State your reside in....thank you very much. Hope everyone is doing well.

We do this thread every year. This year youíre late itís already been done.

EMDII quit the board two decades ago. Mark still is the go to guy for FAL builds. Orca shows up every five years. Many of the old crew is still here; there are some knowledgeable ďnewĒ guys. And some assclowns too that contribute nothing of value. We published a color reference book on the FAL. There are still hoarders, and shooters. Itís still the best gun board.

Don't post much anymore, but stop by and read regularly. Not many folks I remember around anymore. Of course, the days of everyone building FAL's is kind of over.

Iím only #5600 so, I guess itís a matter of perspective as to being an old timer. I spooked the old blue board and never registered then, found this place in 2002 when I came back and couldnít find the blue board. I guess itís either a tater or, a pertater.

I've been here awhile - and built a FAL on receivers from just about every receiver manufacturer there ever was. Never found one I could not make run. It is good to see posts from some of the "old" members here.

I thought you meant old timers (as in still remembering our draft lottery number). No such thing as smoking sections in restaurants. Digging coins out of the upholstery to get just a couple more gallons of gas... That kinda old. Decades before OSHA was a wet dream in a leftist's mind. Driving airport fuel truck before having a driver license.

On the Files, I'm still a newbie.

I submit that the Files should change it's photo requirements from toes (sic) to black socks in sandals. Much funnier, less gross. All in favor??

Define old timer? Is it someone who has been here a while or is the a qualified component, like CE's grumpiness?

Smoking sections? I remember a small non-smoking section in McDonalds, smoking cigars right next to the non-smoking booth . That said, I have arthritis in both knees and Plantars heels that are more painful than the knees. I feel old, older than I am, I think. At least I think thatís what I remember.

Looks like we came in about the same time. I am 45. I joined because I already owned my SAR48 but I was looking for help to build an L1A1. It was a fantastic time and really fun project. I nearly sold that L1A1 several times over the years but I'm glad I kept it. Many memories of procuring parts, building, and shooting it.

Old timer

Joined in Oct. 2002. I have built a dozen Fal's and sold every damn one of em. This is the first post I have made in years. Got the old FAL fever today and decided to check DS Arms website. Wholly crap, the prices on their new Fal's has just put a chill on my fever.

Max tried another question. "What sort of people live about here?"
"In THAT direction," the Jin said, waving its right paw round, "lives a Han: And in THAT direction," waving the other paw, "lives a Ming Hare. Visit either you like: they're both mad."
"But I don't want to go among mad people," Max remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Jin: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Max.
"You must be," said the Jin, "or you wouldn't have come here."

If you haven't priced FAL swag since 2002 or so buckle up for a hell of a ride. The Golden days, as they call it, are definitely over.

I think so, have not been on the files for some time. Seems the lack of quality receivers has put the brakes on the hobby.

I havenít been here in years. Weird that Iím back in the market for a new Fal, after not shooting my M444 in over 10 years, and I see this post.

Check out when I joined. Iím an old timer! Lol. Just havenít been around much since joining. In fact, I was wondering if this site was still even around, after having not being here in so long. Glad to see that it is!

I was amazed that I remembered my password/user name!! Hell, I canít even remember what my wife says to me, minutes later. Lol!!
