100 yd offhand target.

100yd offhand target stand is about 10 yards past this fellow. First photo looks like a 6 pointer. Second side view shows an honest 8.

That's a big deer looks like he just got them from the fuzz still showing. Here 12 pointers aren't even close to that size. Nothing but scrub to eat.

From past experience I would guess that he would dress 175 - 190. Plenty of corn around here for them to fatten up on. This guy was enjoying elder flowers or berries most of the afternoon.

You'd be lucky in these parts to find an buck that weighed that much unless it's on a hunting ranch.

Can't say I've ever hunted, much less know what a point is in a deer. All I know is FL there was a deer family that always would meet me up in the car park in the morning when I got to work (before 7). Since they never tried to attack me or my car, I let them be. The dumpster racoon was another story altogether.

Points aren't very imaginative: the number of points/tips on a deer's antlers.

Art, my mouth is already watering looking at that buck.

We do tend to have marbled venison in my area.

You might be surprised how "imaginative" some folks get about it especially with non-typical.

And mule deer go by each side, ie 4x4, and eye guards don't count, so if the above was a mule deer it would be a 3x3.

And figuring out the final "score" in inches can be like doing diff-EQ.

Round here, that’s a 3 point. A very tasty looking 3 point.

That is a moderate size deer on the farm. Occasionally see bigger but more smaller. That said have at least two eight point or bigger that dress near 200 pounds killed and lots of scrub bucks. We encourage people to cull the skinny smaller ones as well as wait on a more trophy size if want to use the land.

Don't worry, you have 2 months for the skull and antlers to "cure" before the score is official.
