Armory USA, Houston TX underfolder
Have a chance to look at a Polish Circle 11 underfolder on an Armory USA reciever. Anyone have experience or opinions on these? Supposedly it is in excellent shape although it has plastic hand guards. Worth $700? Seems a little high but I'm not sure. Thanks!

So they’ve been gone for at least 10 years or more. They built a lot of AKs and they sold thousands of receivers. Andy Varrin was a good friend of mine and had training by Mr Kalashnikov himself.....700.00 sounds like a decent price. Their newer receivers were 1.6 mm thick. Much stronger. I would look closely at the rivets and the overall workmanship. If they assembled it, it should be exceptionally well built and would have nicely set rivets etc.

Thanks for the response!
Is it easy to tell how thick the reciever walls are by just looking at it? I hope to have pics this week. |

Having built several rifles on AUSA receivers (which were generally decent receivers), a couple of comments...
First, at one point in time, they had problems with the twisting (front to back) of their receivers (presumably during heat-treat)... There were some problems with rusting/pitting at one point in time due to their heat-treat bath process... I never liked their mag dimples on the receiver (too large and too shallow)... Having said all that, they generally built up into decent rifles (although I can't speak to the riveting/build quality of others). Forrest |
