So is the 1st pic Motorhead? I really never listened to them at all because was never exposed to them I guess.

Grateful Dead though...couldn't stand their music. Never got it.

Hey, what's the original source of that photo Andy? I've often wondered where it came from.

And yeah, it was once my desktop photo too.

Looks like Louisiana swampland after Katrina when all that funk from NOLA was receding from Lake Pontchartrain over on the west side towards Hammond. Those guys have old style preps in that neck of the woods.

The address of the building at the top is where I spent my first night in 1958.
It’s on my birth certificate. It’s a significant building in the Quarter.....known as the Skyscraper Hotel in the day. It’s the tallest building in the old quarter. I was born rig(t down the street at Charity Hospital.

A local bar and restaurant / gas station pre "camp (11/08/2018) fire".

ETA: I had ventured up to this site several years prior to the latest fire 11/08/2018 and snapped a pic of the mail boxes on the highway close to this site to Google map the site later.

Never expected to locate the pic but did a few mins ago so I Googled it and it does look like the camp fire took the historic building and site.

The address was (12201 CA-70, Oroville, CA 95965) in the case anyone has an interest in seeing what Google maps has it looking like now and maybe in the past in the case that past Google maps shows such images.

Also pre "Camp Fire" but more recent.

2. I have seen that pic and others of those skyscraper guys, that is some crazy shit.... i know a lot of american indians did high altitude work because,i was told, they had no fear of heights and those dont look indian. That pic give me the willies a bit.. i was once almost blown off a cliff when a gust out of nowhere hit me in the back... yea,bit more concious of wind direction and height.

3 cool old scifi art ,has to be from late 70s or into the early 80s. Cool aircraft.

1. Yep, October 18, 2018. A warning to his kind; stay out of my trees. (actually, he fell and got caught that way after he was shot)

2. Never in a million years could I do that.

3. Good eye! From "Mechanismo" by Harry Harrison, 1978. That craft pictured is a Gaussi fighter 724. It has the Forbes-Kalyushin FTL (faster than light) Drive, about 107 meter span and 98 meter length. Big and fast.

The original has been oft used as the basis of photochop work.

Cool photos all.
That is an artwork illustration from a video game. Not a real photo.

Looks kinda like Hagar on one of his camping trips waiting for the guy with the Cadillac Escalade and the loud booming bass to pull in to the next campsite.

Story I told Impala_guy about camping in AZ, in a campground (which I normally avoided like the plague). But we wanted to do some fishing, it was on the Verde river, and reserved a spot. Saturday morning these gangbanger mofos rock up in 2 cars in the site next to us, put a huge boombox on top of one of the cars, and start playing the most obscene rap music on the planet. My wife, who at that point already knew me too well, immediately said "we are packing up and going home". So we packed up, and as we drive away from the camp, we go up this steep hill. I stopped at the top, got out of the SUV, fetched my 25/06 Sendero out of the back, stuck it on it's 27 inch bipod, sat my butt down, and chambered a 75 VMax. It was a clear and easy 175 yard shot to hit the boombox, I lined it up in the sights, and had about 2 pounds of the 3.5 pound trigger pull already taken up, when my wife jumped out of the car and said "WTF are you doing?". To this day I think I would have taken the shot if she did not interfere, but since we reserved the spot with name and address, my arse would have been grass..

Closest I ever got to doing something stupid that could have landed me in jail.

I did a lot of other stupid things in my life, but I was smart enough to know which I could get away with, and which would get me in trouble..

I still have that on my bucket list, to destroy a ghetto blaster in front of the ghetto occupant..

Now you know how your future father in law felt when your wife told him she was bringing you over for dinner and you were this really great African guy she'd met.
