M17 Surplus

Did anyone else get one? I had to dig, but I found a couple and really like them. Rare opportunity?

You have to get lucky and find one at your local dealer or go to Gunbroker and pay up for one. It doesn't seem as if they were distributed too evenly or fairly to all dealers. A lot of dealers that got them heard what they'd bring on Gunbroker and listed them there instead of retailing them in their stores.

Well,

There is reason the Army is getting rid of these. There were lots of changes made to frame geometry compared to the current guns. I know this because I was involved with the testing at Army Test and Evaluation command.

I got one locally. I like it. It has the medium grip frame.

I heard there were changes, but not sure what they are. My friend with the Border Patrol is issued one, however he was promoted and moved to the Tucson sector a few months ago and I haven't had the chance to talk to him.

Well,

The slides helped to eject extra rounds causing stoppages with +p ammo. Took super slow mo cameras to see it, but they milled some of the inner slide angles differently afterwards
The initial guns were issued to the 101st then withdrawn and replaced.

Really?

I thought it was in the product verification testing that the Army found the guns would double feed. Itís been a known issue from during the MHS trials.
