OMG You're an idiot! He said

"That's no moon, it's a space station" And I did that from memory, from when I saw it in 1977 on a rainy Saturday in Malago Cove. Had liver for dinner that night, for the first time, and have hated it ever since.

Just for the record, the last time I was ever in a movie theater was 1977 when Stars Wars came out

I saw it in 1977 at the UA Cinema adjacent to Tyler Mall in Riverside.

Then we went to Naugles for egg burritos with green sauce.

It is much diminished from my youth, where I could read it once and it was burned in, but that liver was so traumatic that I could not forget it if I wanted to.

Tried it once more as an adult to see if my tastes had changed. Nope. Still one of the two foods I could not eat even if I were starving. The other being beets.

So, what I learned from this thread is that FALs with DSA receivers were used in the Death Star

Yes this is true which explains the built-in defect that the rebels exploited to finally win the day (Its the Chicago way)

Yeah, that's not the line.

Besides it doesn't address the issue. Obi-Wan would have no idea what the name of the Death Star was, he was just identifying it as a space station. The use of the name "Death Star" elsewhere in the films, with characters more familiar with it shows that that was the name. As Gun Plumber mentioned, the Stormtrooper reported to Darth Vader on the Tanative IV that the "Death Star plans are not in the main computer." These troopers were, in lore, from the famed 501st Legion, and would have known the actual name of the Death Star.

Of course, later in the same film we hear a Rebel technician refer to the Death Star by name when it had passed the planet Yavin and was in firing position to attack Yavin IV. (see previous post for clip)

Years later, we also hear Rebels refer to the design as being a "Death Star," during the attack on the Death Star II. Lando clearly uses the name when arguing for a change in tactics.

You might be trying to argue that it was officially known as a battle station. That's fine. In the current, Disney lore that's true, it was officially referred to as the "DS-1 Orbital Battle Station." However, even here we see the Death Star designation, as that's what the DS stands for. Fitting with the Tarkin Doctrine, the ominous name Death Star would have been used instead of the official name to incite terror, and the official name was likely there only to help get the budget passed and kept somewhat secret from the Imperial Senate.

I think you're on to something. The Death Star doesn't use a super laser, it it is millions of FALs all firing at once using green tracers. They could have used actual FN receivers, but using the DSAs was part of the sabotage. It's all so clear now.

If they threw warped receivers at them they would hit low!

Lmao that alone tells you all you need to know about him guys

But im glad we at least answered that DSA (Death Star Armaments? heh) is the only FAL new production maker currently. And got a tally on a pretty rough guesstimate of when companies went out of business, so thanks.
