SIG receivers
Boy, oh, boy!! The receivers I had in my hand a few days ago. US made. Hopefully available this summer/fall. The project is still moving forward albeit slowly.

The ones JDI is working on? I know Dave has stated he hopes to get it done for the 55x. I've also heard someone is working on PE57 receivers

Are we talking Stgw 57 type roller locked receivers or Sig 540 7.62 nato receivers?

OK, it's follow up time. You guys that are wanting Sig Stg 57's will be happy to see these pics. There are already approved samples. That's been done. These are the very first to roll of the assembly line, albeit a small test lot. There were will be very slight changes made to these to assist in the production, but they are complete, functional, US made receivers. Some barrels have been made. And, for those wondering, there will be both 7.5 Swiss and .308 NATO caliber, but the barrel profile with the be the same with both-the heavier 7.5 profile will be used and they will be nitrided, too. These are chamber fluted, too. The receivers are as they were originally produced, roller locked, tack welded and then furnace brazed. These have been a long time in the making and, hopefully, may have stampings/shells available as soon as 12 to 15 weeks. I know there are some here that do awesome work, but...........

Oh, yeah, I almost forgot. There will be complete receivers for sale, 50 parts kits for sale, US made barrels for sale and complete, functioning rifles (with the required US made parts) for sale. Every expense will be made to make sure that there are as close to perfect as can be made.

Uh oh. Someone is saying that these are now for sale. They are NOT presently for sale, neither are the parts kits, etc. They are still in the prototype stage and have not been built yet. There are some tweaking measures to be worked out. So, if you're saying they are ready, you would be wrong. Give us time to make a great product that's ready to be sold. Don't ask, don't call, don't PM, please. I'll update here when they are being shot. Thanks.

Test firing has began for 3 completely built rifles. We're going to run the crap out of these. And, I gotta make some charging handles as they will be a compliant part.

As cool as the StG/PE-57 is, I was really hoping for 7.62 540-Type receivers myself.
A few years back SIG displayed the 751 at SHOT but then promptly introduced the 716 instead.

These will be roller locked, just like originals, and in both calibers-7.62 and 7.5. I had pics up farther up in the thread and then someone here took that (somehow) to mean that they were ready and shipping. They then contacted other "friends" and apparently "ordered" 3 complete rifles. So, I was asked to take them down immediately. But, there are 3 rifles finished awaiting a battery of testing to make sure that they are really ready for someone to own. There are also a few minor changes to the receiver forming process and serial numbering that will happen after these have been fully tested. Progress has been made. There will be available 50 kits for sale, bare receivers for sale and complete rifles for sale, too.

copper custom out of Indiana have a few Swiss SIG PE90 "pistols" for sale, they are swiss 20 " rifles without a buttstock and no 922r parts, they want $7000+ for them and will sell you a stock and you have to scorce the 922r parts yourself.

OK, guys, (and you doubters), here's the first prototype to run of the press. This is one of the original three built. Ones after this will be ever so slightly different.

Yes, I believe they are furnace brazed/treated just like the originals. I cannot remember where the test dot is, though, I would have to re-look at them. The new and improved versions will look even nicer (not that these are bad).

Just making sure.

He said he had recently received some receivers of the new batch, but there was a small cosmetic flaw in them. The new replacement receivers will arrive some time this month. He only has enough front and rear trunnions for his build up rifles, but if people have their own kits/trunnions, there may be some 80% percent receivers for sale soon. I asked about pricing, but that is to be determined. The main hold up on the new, updated primo receivers is that the scope mounts need to be machined and I need to weld them on.

PE 57 Build
Curios; If I have a kit with a 308 dsa supplied barrel
to replace the missing at that time 7.5 barrel a price to build my kit to or maybe to just remove trunnions from the old receiver and install/fit his new receiver on the trunnions.. I see the shorter 308 barrel needs a round sleeve spacer fitted to forend to position the shorter 308 barrel centered up correctly.. Appreciate thoughts/ response on this.. Best J R... |

Fleabus, it's really too soon to see what the prices will be. We have not actually built on the latest receivers yet, but guarantee they will be less work to build on that the original three made as they had some small issues to work through. Just so you guys know, he has both .308 and 7.5 barrels, fluted and all. We just need some more time to get them as close to perfect as possible. One thing he won't do is put out a junk part or assemble an iffy rifle. Not gonna happen and if that means another few weeks, then that's what it means. I have held/seen all the parts so far, so I know it's gonna happen. Too much invested. Plus, I gotta finish up some small jobs in the shop so I can gear up for welding on the scope mount blocks (still being machined, too).

Well I've been out of the loop for years now and had kinda assumed this endeavor had been abandoned. I am so excited to see there may finally be light at the end of the tunnel! I've got a trunnion ready at long last for a quality receiver!

Good to hear this is still progressing. I paid for stamped receiver parts from Mike @ Magarms but he then went dark and stopped replying to my calls and emails. I will not post how much money I lost.

Yes, he has received a batch of bent up receivers. I have to go look at them. They require a weld underneath. He already has fixturing for that. Maybe weld a few up today.

Uncle,....nope, not yet. Soon, though. I think he's trying to decide to let a few bare receivers go to recoup some of the initial investment. While we're waiting, I'm curious to know what one would pay for an accurate rendition of a SIG receiver.
