BM 59 kits?

Hi All
I know I am late to this game but. Anyone know if there are still BM 59 parts kits and mags to be had?

Thanks

Don't know how good they are.

Numrich has kits, minus barrel and receiver. As posted above, they're a lot cheaper on the site than GunBroker. Most other sellers are missing small parts that are impossible to find.
No barrels are currently available, but Shuff can convert a 7.62/.308 Garand barrel. Shuff also does the best receiver work.
Magazines are here and there, and slowly creeping up in price - but still far less than the $75/ea they once were!

There were some receivers here: https://www.gunbroker.com/item/849650490
I'm thinking there were some modifications required on the Receiver for the BM59, certainly on the Trigger Housing...fun,and neat Rifle, magazines are expensive, and it can be a finicky bastard.

Sarco used to sell diagrams/blueprints showing what needs to be done. People have done that at weaponsguild.

Riversidesports needs to move to the upper Chattahoochee river or banks of Lake Lanier so I can pilfer all his piles of stuff in person. Will return the favor but think his pile is bigger than mine which has to be impressive.

Those are Italian Garand receivers, interchangeable with USGI.

Magazines re reasonable now, the Italians have retired the BM59 from service so almost all the parts are headed to America. In fact, magazines can be had for less than M14 magazines nowadays!
An 'in spec' BM59 (factory Beretta or Shuff's) is less finicky than the parent Garand (no clip latch issues), the myth of unreliability had to do with junk from the '60s that used some BM59 components (magazines and bolt hold open) with 'simplified' modifications that didn't work as well as the Italian engineering and rewelded receivers.

Awesome rifles and the parts and mags are the lowest they have been in years.

You can always do what many have done before and modify the receiver to use M14 magazines instead. Personally I would not do it but Shuff has done that so many times it is an option in his website.

The Beretta BM59 magazine is the best 7.62 mag ever made, IMHO.

If you are going to build a BM no reason NOT to do it with the correct mag , especially when they are available and inexpensive compared to years back.

You know you now incited the ire of the M14 fans, right?

M14 magazines are junk, comparing the 2 is like comparing a Cadillac Cimarron (remember those?) to a Lincoln Town Car. Yeah, they're both 20-round 7.62 NATO magazines, but that's where the similarity ends.

I am one of those fans and still have a super match and EBR in Sage chassis.
Great rifles and the mags work but the BM59 mags really make the M14 mags look like potatoes peelers.

I would say the BM59 magazine itself is the draw of the conversion. Very high quality. The magazines are certainly worth what they are selling for now.

Years ago I remember when BM59 mags were $125 when you could find them. One of the reasons I didn't buy one.
I've come to prefer the 59 over the M1A, I still own both but there's just something about the rifle I like. They're an interesting one to build, yet simple especially when you compare how long it took to finalize compared to the M14 design.
Here are my 2 E types and my latest that I just finished up, which I have modified an extra tri comp to comply with CA regs(cut the slots flush and turned the diameter below 22mm...sigh)

I remember when GI M14 magazines were $125 in the '90s, sure kept the price of quality M14s down!

Shuff will modify your receiver to your specification, if you want a BM59 that uses M14 magazines it's certainly available!

Agreed - except I have little desire for another M14. They just never felt 'right' to me, like the M1 and BM59.

Two of them... I need to build my other kit!

I'm weird, using a M14 mag in a 59 mod would be like sacrilege. LOL
