There were some FN 50:63 with 406mm (16") but I understand the standards are
50:62 458mm ( a little over 18") 50:63 436mm ( a little under 17.2") I say 17.3" because that's where I cut them. After threading and crowning, they end up 17.2"

IMBEL's site says 440mm, although I wonder if they're just rounding up from 436mm.
I believe they also made one with a 533mm barrel. |

I didn't either. I offered full length and "para". Para - I cut around 17.3. When people asked for para, they'd ask for "para length" or "18 inch" or "17 inch" or whatever, but I understood they meant, not 16" legal minimum, and not 21.
Until I had a customer absolutely lose his freaking mind when he said 18" and got 17.2. He meant exactly 458mm and absolutely not 17.2". Only customer in 30 years to make a fuss. But it was through him I leaned of the 50:62. Not seen any other reference to it since then. Stevens lists a "super short 50:63" in the Argy section, but it is unclear if it is shorter than 17.2"

Ok, so with the Imbel para models, we're the barrels bipod or non-bipod cut, or both. Imbel model numbers?

The ones that PAC sold as new barrels (before the Republicans banned them from import) were bipod cut.
I have seen images of Brazilian Parachute Infantry with standard stock NBC, and para stock both BC and NBC And 50:64s like these Rio de Jeneiro Police Commandos. ![]() So I guess the answer is - anything goes.

This page mentions the 50.62 and a FAL OSW 330mm barrel. Could this be the super short 50.63?
https://www.militaryfactory.com/smal...mallarms_id=41 This lists both near bottom of page under FN Production Variants; https://fnforum.net/forums/fn-fal/17...fal-print.html This YouTube video states in the description that they're using a 50.62 (I think that's what it states); https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VBm3LEbLIzM Pictures (including 50.62); https://pantip.com/topic/34333351 Found this brief explanation on http://www.ozarkbeararms.com/2012/10...been-some.html ; FN produced several carbine versions of the FAL, under the 'Para' designation. The 50.61 had a standard LAR upper with 21" barrel; and a lower receiver with a right side folding metallic skeletonized buttstock. Next, the 50.62 was released, and it was identical to the 50.61 except for having a shortened 18" barrel. This size was chosen as it did notably decrease the FAL's length, while still allowing for good performance of the 7.62mm NATO cartridge. The 50.63 was developed especially to fit the needs of Belgian paratroopers. It had a 18" barrel and side folding stock, same as the 50.62, but also featured a folding charging handle, redesigned takedown lever, and lacked a carry handle. |

OSW (formerly "elite") is a DSA creation and uses a short gas system, like an XM177 vs versus M16.
Not an FN product.
