This may sound like a stupid question, but seeing as this is the first time I've purchased a receiver like this over the internet, I was wondering if I should have my local FFL send their license to Coonan first, or order it and then have the FFL fax their information once the product is complete? Do FFL's even hold onto their FFL documents for as long as it would take Coonan to fulfill an order (around 9-12 months according to their site right now)?

Place order with Coonan, and pay.
You can either send them your FFL or a copy of the ffl you use, OR you can have your FFL FAX Coonan a copy. IF the renewal date for the FFL is durring the time your expecting delivery, call and have ffl send new # to them. Good luck

Just received first of two Coonan Argy receivers to mate with two Sarco kits. Very well made, fits good onto lower, with a very tight hinge pin fit, and a slightly underclocked barrel. 4 month wait.

Dan Coonan
Dan has been in the firearms industry for a long time. The receivers he sells now are the same good quality sold long ago.My Federal Arms corp(FAC)type 1 rec was made by D.C.I. (Dan Coonan Industries). My last build was a Belgian
kit on a DC receiver type 3.My last C.A.I. receiver R1A1 had feed ramps made from J.B.Weld.I had to chip that out with a screwdriver, and weld my own in. |

Anyone been buying Coonan receivers lately? All still good to go? I'm about to order 4 Type 1's, a G1, and an Argy, all with custom numbers. Time to get some of these projects moving....

Just picked-up my Coonan receiver
I just picked-up my Type 1C Coonan receiver. The engraving was uneven with "COO" at the end of the receiver being almost cratered and the serial number on the opposite lower end almost illegible. In fact, the serial number was so shallow that my FFL had to use a magnifying glass to read it. Back the receiver goes.

two Coonan questions, Does anyone have a current quality report, and what if any are the limitations on custom serial numbers?

I ordered a Brit cut receiver at the beginning of October, they're on a 60 day wait according to their website. I expect mine about the end of November according to my invoice. I'll let you know if they meet it. I ordered a custom serial number too, with no issues.

It's on its way!
Just got an email from Coonan that my Brit cut receiver has shipped today. That's about 42 days, better than advertised. I'll let you know what shape it arrives in.

Well until Coonan gets their act together and do a better job with the lettering on their receivers I don't think I'm gonna buy one and I need a couple of G1's. Mark |

Got it!
Picked up the receiver today. Appears to be nicely machined, parkerized in a satin black color. All lettering crisp and clean. Magazine, bolt carrier, and top cover all fit ok. Now just got to put it together.

Coonan rcvr build
Coonan rcvr came in after app 70 day wait. Test assembled and everything fit. Barrel timed on the money and markings clear. Parts for this light Izzy build out for ceracoat now but should have build done (and photos) year end. This is my 3rd build, first was Imbel kit on Imbel gear rcvr and second a DSA rcvr hybrid (some Imbel lower parts and barrel). I had zero issues with these three receivers and have well over 1000 rnds fired through the first two guns. Reading FalFiles has helped me avoid the usual landmines so thanks everyone

Can someone tell me what the markings are on the Coonan Argie receivers are as opposed to the standard Coonan type 3?
I tried looking at the pics in their website archives but couldn't find a pic showing how they were stamped. |

I think the only real difference is the cut to accept the Argy lower....markings should be the same....

Glad to hear they treated you right. I wonder what the status of Coonan is now? If that 'corporate restructure' ever happened? From what I gathered online they've seem to gone the way of the Dodo.

Coonan collected money from ???? unknown many and provided ZIP, ZERO
during the last year. His pockets got well lined before the shutdown. Deepest sympathy goes to those that "bought" a 357 auto, took delivery, had issues, and returned it via RMA for repair. Many never get them back. Legal process to recover may surpass the $$$ paid. What would one have to do to TRY and recover ? ? Last edited by Scout10; October 31, 2019 at 23:03. |

Lien?
Seems to me I am entitled to $1000 of the proceeds from the liquidation of his assets. Two FAL receivers paid for plus cc interest.
His pockets did not get well lined. He poorly managed his affairs and could barely keep up paying the bills. Lousy business plan. Don't drink the CBD oil. Coonan's website is still advertising the same crap from a year ago about restructuring by November....Hey, its November!!!
