Thumbs down The Dealers Showroom

Has anyone delt with John at Dealers Showroom in Oregon?

I placed and paid for an Aussie pistol grip from him over a month ago and get nothing but the run-around from him.

I just got off the phone with John, he refered me to Michael who was on the computor...took my info again (fourth time I've called now) and order number...."we'll get back to you within an hour".

Well, they did call be back....they are only going to charge me for the pistol grip, not the pop-stick or shipping.

Lets see if it shows up............

I ordered some Makarov grips & screws from them three weeks ago. The merchandise was OK and arrived pretty fast, but they billled me $36. rather than the $25. that was advertised on their site.

I just sent a 3rd e-mail this morning and am waiting for them to credit my charge card for the difference. It's almost not worth the bother for $11.

They do have some neat stuff. I'll probably not order from them again though.

How did you place the order? Through their online store or via email? I used the online order system and had no problems..

I do not know who they use for their email services but I know with my hotmail account I do not always receive emails from some people depending on where they come from. I think hotmails built in spam protector goes to far sometimes.

I received no response to my three e-mails, so I called them on Friday. John picked right up - I think he's the owner. I explained the problem with my order and kept my frustration in check. He said the mistake wasn't intentional, and that he'd issue a credit to my charge card Fri 8/6 or Sat 8/7.

I just checked my account on-line, and (of course) there is no credit. I sent an e-mail (#4) saying that I'm contacting my credit card company and requesting the whole amount be charged back.

Worst case scenario, I'm out eleven bucks. I'll survive. I'll never do business with him again though - I have no tolerance for carelessness where my credit card is involved.

Your mileage may vary.

To Def90's question:

I ordered via the website. Then over the last several calls verified the order directly with John and then Michael.

I have received no response from any of the emails I've sent.

Robin Shooter:

If it were $11.00 I wouldn't worry but is 4x thats. Given the current economic status of the Union, I would expect a business to conduct themsleves accordingly.

Politely asking that this company correct their mistake and issue me a credit got me nowhere. So, I disputed the charge with my charge card company today.

I sent a fifth e-mail to the company Saturday. Not sure why I even bothered.

It can take up to 30 days for a credit to show up on your account.

I'm pretty confident that the reason neither myself nor my credit card company can see the credit...is because said credit was never issued.

This is nothing new with them. Bout five years ago, they had some Izzy rear sling swivels. I ordered two off the website. CC gets hit immediately. Three weeks go by and nothing. Send em an email, nothing for two weeks. Send them another email, ship or refund. Again, nothing. So, I called them, guy on the other end blames it on a new girl in the office. I tell him to ship or refund. Parts show up not long thereafter.

They moved to Oregon?

This is John & Mike Bush aka Crooks

They put the bad in the original ASF Lithgow import group.
I filed 2 postal fraud charges on them back in the early 90's after both deals went bad and that finally pushed them to make good. Never dealt w/them again.

They were always operating out of Sacramento, CA at that time.

They then became Arm & Merchant.
Now they are Dealers Showroom.
They've opened and closed more PO boxes than i've eaten frozen pizza's!

They were the very poorly rated "Desert Surplus"? on ePay.
Havn't checked that in many years.
Just checked and that seller name is no longer there.

I bought a Mak slide from them once and they were the only place that had any and I got it w/o issue. They sound like a cross between I/O and Botach.

Funny ya mention Desert Surplus! Had a problem with them back in the late 90s over some Inch wood that I bought through Epay. I had to get the USPS involved.

Looks like they have a lot of neat stuff but just hate to "part with the parts"!

I'm still trying to get a $11 credit for undelivered parts (which they never
had) and keep getting the BS runaround. I'd recommend steering clear of
these dudes.....

Having seen their warehouse I have little doubt they have the parts you want but they almost certainly cannot find them.

Yeah, I was in there quite a bit when they were in Sac, what a dog pile. Wine Barrels stuffed with '08 Brazilian mausers, coffins of m16 mags @ $1 each, piles of shat everywhere, even they didn't know what they had. Haven't tried mail ordering from them.

It is unfortunate that John and Michael bush seem to have such trouble with delivering in a timely matter, as advertised.

This has been going on for years. Michael did some very nice wood stock work, but ended up taking money and not delivering.

I've ordered from John before and received what I ordered, but based on this common recurring compliant, I have to assume mine was a fluke.

Hmmm, I've ordered from them twice in the last year and received exactly what I ordered within a week of placing the order.

I used to deal a lot with SAF Lithgow in the mid 90s. Even bought a matching numbers SLR with an original green patina from him.

Guess I didn't realize he was the same clown as it was always a headache but given the times it was worth it not so today.

and BTW, I still haven't received the part or been contacted.
