Loosen Grand Larceny Statue, but....

Now the leftists in Virginia are intending on "Criminal Justice Reform". We likely have already read of such proposals in other states to release felons back on the streets, give felons back voting rights, and, like NYC, end bail requirements.

Virginia leftists want to loosen the Grand Larceny Statue, only bringing felony charges if the theft of an item(s) exceed $2K, up from $500.

Keep in mind that these same people are chomping to pass tyrannical new 'gun laws' that will make thousands of law-abiding Virginians FELONS just because these Virginians own specific firearms and accessories the leftists don't like!

I hope Virginians now see what consequences elections have and will begin to repair this damage next November.

the social justice lawlessness in virginia is a harsh lesson, the example for every state to learn from as to what to expect;
we can all expect to see the same game plan used in every state in the next 12 months time--

cancelling our bill of rights, creating millions of paper felons by way if socialized gun control as a prelude to disarmament is the current phase of the "civil rights movement" social justice war.

achieving legalized suppression of individual civil rights of political enemies as follows--

step 1: Universal Background Checks (UBC)

felonizing gun owners by administrative fiat;
to enforce their UBC requires --

step 2: Registration Of "Illegal Firearms"

criminalization of lawful possession and use, expand definition as needed to criminalize all firearms, then implement --

step 3: Red Flag no due process Flag Confiscation,

confiscate said "illegal firearms", wash rinse repeat.

the entire purpose of UBC and registration is confiscation.

compromise at your peril.

American society is like an old car door now.........................the bottom is rotted and scalloped from rust.........it has to be cut out.

The door still works, but that rusty bottom has to go..........it is unsightly, ugly, ruined by bad chemicals, but keeps on growing as the left side of it wants.

I've read somewhere that yes they will be grandfathering of the firearms that (if the law passes) will be illegal for everyone else.

BUT most likely there will be registration which will make it much easier to collect them down the road.

Grandfathering, but with the requirement to register. That's what the media is calling "backtracking" by Northam. What a joke!

the intent and purpose of registration is confiscation, and therefore unauthorized illegal criminal action.

Okay a few things

To begin with in most States felons get voting returned after they complete sentence. Only a small handful of States do otherwise and in most those prohibition were only written into law in the sixties to silence the Black vote during the Civil Rights era
Felons voting has always been an enormous Nothingburger

Costs per felon run 20K a year on up
that's before you even get into staff retirement
my opinion if an asshole has a history of actual societal violence you remove them. Either lengthy incarceration or execution
many things though you need to gauge
Is the wine worth the cost of the grapes or rather is the Juice worth the Squeeze ?

nope in many cases in my opinion it isn't
knew one guy who spent just over two years in a ND pen over a "snow seal"
a trace positive test for Cocaine back in the late 70s
nope no actual substance...how dumb is that ?
He was early 20s, was given a quarter gram by a frat brother. Cops found the empty seal in his car's console
Solved a serious crime wave there huh ?

Grand Larceny
inflation...raise it to maybe a grand threshold to Felony or at least make it actual value, not replacement cost.
If it's stolen from a business it's different than a residence where it's already face it second hand

Bail btw is bullshit today
most bail agents are retired popo
most cases if the accused has property they can attach it to the Court they walk without paying a cent in bail fees
the only folks that really pay "bail" are those who don't own shit and resort to a Court authorized "pawnbroker" that leaches cash off poor folks

What year was it set at $500? 1900? 1950? 1975?

Inflation calculator $500 in 1975 = $2,390.41 in 2020

Well, I just dunno. Ask 49% of American workers who average annual earnings is less than $30K how much $500 is.

Back around 1991 or 1992 North Carolina raised their felony larceny charge amount from $400 to $1000.
