Tell me about side saddles

Iím thinking about putting side saddles on a couple of shotguns, a Mossberg 500 and a Remington 870. Donít mind paying for quality if it makes sense. Any experience with such?

Esstac shotgun card.
Comes on and off shotguns easy, can carry a second velcro card on your vest, stays rock solid while shooting.

Not a fan of stretch loops. I prefer the hard plastic/nylon style carriers.
Here's aa couple of examples of what I'm talking about; https://www.gunmann.com/mossberg-500-side-saddles/

Mesa tactical makes a great hard nylon side saddle as well.
This one has served me well over the years.

Original Sidesaddle on my 870P:

I myself find no problem with the added weight and changing of the center of balance cited by some critics. YMMV. Best wishes. Dave

Used to amaze me how well women riding sidesaddle could perform in horse jumping competitions.

Ive tried side saddles in the past, but my current work truck riot gun wears a speed feed stock instead.
It lives in a rear window type truck gun rack along with an AR, but mounted on the lower cab thats behind the seat and never seen until you flip the seat back forward.
It only holds 4rds, but its never obtrusive or hard to remove shells from.
I always found grabbing or trying to hold a side saddle equipped gun one handed by the receiver, as I often do when carrying or removing it from the rack, is clumsy and uncomfortable as fuk....
Just another option and my .02
Cheers, yv

I bought a used 870 a while back that had one on it. First thing I found was that it covered the SN so you had to remove it to verifies the SN. The pins that hold the FCG in have to be replaced with a screw to mount it on the gun. The backing late was made of aluminum and on of the screw holes stripped out. I called TacStar (a division of Lyman Products) and as I recall they sent me a new plate for free, I just can't find it as I never mounted it back on the gun.
