Gunbroker

Gunbroker seems to have a lot fewer guns for sale than a year ago.

9.3 x 62's have about dried up except for Blasers.

I guess you cannot have a record lot of 4473 sales every month, without people buying up everything.

Or is it their fees?

I think Gunbroker’s fees are very reasonable for the amount of exposure and potential for aggressive buyers.... that said, the seller has to do their part with solid pix and descriptions.

I have noticed that many of the guns I have been looking for are more sparse and/or folks are asking stupid high prices.... and not selling, go figure.

It is a good time to buy green box era Colt AR rifles, market is soft at the moment. I recently picked up a couple previously unobtanium rifles (for my wallet anyway) for reasonable $$$.

It may reflect on your what your looking for or selling. I haven't purchased anything on GB for years, but recently purchased a S&W gen 3 handgun on GB, some auctions very active, my search was, just wait for the right one or be patient if your the seller....

Used to buy a lot on GB but the last few years. Some if not most prices are crazy high. Could be that a lot of certain firearms are just not as available anymore too. I used too buy multiples and at times dozens of handguns, rifles and magazines (and other accessories) at a time from other vendors like J&G Sales, Southern Ohio, Classic, AIM, etc, but that market simply dried up (especially the C&R market). Pretty much reduced to looking at a few antiques and modern weaponry. On another note: It's now quite obvious that Trump will win a second term and a good likelihood that the Repubs will retake the House so the "need" for new weapons has died down except in localized markets (i.e. Virginia).

I usually watch Gunbroker for 1940's, 1950's bolt action hunting rifles, Mauser, Remington's, OTW's (Other Than Winchesters). I like the old Winchesters but prices now days usually run way more than I am willing to spend. I also keep an eye out for certain model S&W revolvers. Seems like it goes in spurts to me. One two week period there will be a batch of them in calibers I want. Next two week period there may be just two or three. I do more bidding than winning. In many cases even the older non Winchesters are bringing serious money. I think Gunbroker is a great place to sell and it's worth keeping an eye on as a buyer. Every now and then I see some decent deals.

supply and demand. both are always changing. the key is to maximize the differential, whether as a seller, or buyer. as a speculator you are the other, then, the one. the key is your ability to adapt. karl is doing well because he has adapted.

The next time I hear "THE RANGE IS NOW HOT", it just wont be the same.

Max tried another question. "What sort of people live about here?"
"In THAT direction," the Jin said, waving its right paw round, "lives a Han: And in THAT direction," waving the other paw, "lives a Ming Hare. Visit either you like: they're both mad."
"But I don't want to go among mad people," Max remarked.
"Oh, you can't help that," said the Jin: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad."
"How do you know I'm mad?" said Max.
"You must be," said the Jin, "or you wouldn't have come here."

I recently snatched up a type B FAL bayonet for 425.00 delivered. I also picked up 14 NOS para magazines for 377.00 delivered. 10 are 20 round in original wrappers and 4 are 10 round in which I have never had the pleasure to see or have.

Election time should be interesting to see if the political winds ramp up sales or not. I remember the post-Sandy Hook Gunbroker prices....yikes.

This is the key to GunBroker--patience. Guns that aren't one-of-a-kind are commodities. The prices will rise and fall; just like the stock market, and for reasons that are equally inscrutable.

I bought every gun I own except my two FALs on GunBroker mainly because I was looking for stuff that isn't in current production.

I have run into a few non rated bidders who show they have had accounts for four or five years bidding on the same auctions I am bidding on. Maybe I am paranoid but I find it odd that someone has been on gunbroker for that many years and has never bought or sold anything. Now all of a sudden they are in a bidding war, bidding up an auction two or three hundred over it's normal value. It just strikes me as a bit suspicious and I normally drop out of bidding when I see it, long before I have reached my self imposed limit. I can understand non rated bidders with new accounts but 4-5 years?

Sounds like shill bidders to me. (Seller opens a fake account to bid against potential buyers. Bids up auction in an effort to get a higher price.)

If you let them take it, at least the seller has to pay GunBroker their auction fee.

Ive found the trick to selling on gun broker is to start everything at $1 with no reserve.
There are too many people on there who are constantly watching and bidding.
Ive yet to sell a weapon that didnt go above what I was initially asking by letting the market dictate the price..

I hate penny auctions and low starts. Every moron who thinks they’re going to get a $1000 item for $300 asks questions then they are NEVER the winner.

i start all of my auctions at 0.01.

no one has asked qustions other than something i may have forgot.

1 time i posted a Woo for 1k "buy it now" for some reason but wanted to do the 0.01 and let it ride. But by the time i noticed the error, someone had did the "buy it now". Its was ok since i still make $$ on the deal and he was happy.

sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear gets you.

Ive only used reserves for a friend and that was his choice. in the end he made a few bucks on the sale.

99% of my stuff is not made anymore so the bidders are only willing to spend what they want. I made more $$$ on selling my SS109 ammo and i wish i would have bought a truck load.

depending on what you have, chances are there are collectors out there.

For now im keeping my STG/FAL, conversion kits, both OEM and New version. But eventually they will go.

But then that $1000 item sells for $1500 a larger number of followers get into a pecker measuring contest and bid it up.

..... seriously though, not everyone who asks questions is a moron (not making this point in spite). Some people just don’t know, and will bid if the seller is patient and cordial.

Then again, you get the “yeah, but, based upon what I read online” who are a PIA. When the bid goes higher than the price they saw in a 2003 Marketplace add, they get pissy and accuse you of shill bids.

in all of my auctions there is a guy that always is the 1st to bid. never asked any question, but probably hoping to get a good deal to flip.

ive got several buyers that have store fronts and probably buying to flip or may have specific local people to offer fs.
