G3 How far to press the barrel in the trunnion?

OK so now on to my next question on my G3 build. How far do I press the barrel into the trunnion? I found one note that said "flush with the rear surface of the trunnion" and another that said the barrel face should be about .020" above the rear surface of the trunnion. Is there a given dimension I should be shooting for like from the rear face of the barrel to the rear face of the trunnion (where it stops against the receiver rails)? Should I be using a go gauge and the bolt to find the right location?

Also any tricks to cutting the new cross pin hole in the barrel once I get the barrel in the right place?
