FN 49 - 30-06 gas port diameter?

Anyone know the port size for 30-06 barrel?

Edit:

7mm= TBD
8mm= .125
.308= TBD
.30-06= TBD

I thought that it would be the same and just gas adjustment would be needed. I am not home, to look at my copy of FN-49 - The Last Elegant Old World Military Rifle - Expanded Second Edition 2019. You can get yours here:

I have the book, and poured over it. I cannot find this or any gas port diameter dimensions in the book. I might have discovered the one piece of info not in the book. Or I can’t find it.

I thought, "Well, I have a couple of new 8mm barrels that I can check (not .30-06, but still...)," so I rummaged through some shit and found them. Unfortunately, for what we're talking about here, they are complete with the gas block, so not much help...

But I did stumble across some stuff that I forgot I had, including a couple of Russian plum AK-74 stocksets, a new Yugo M70 barrel, a new Howa .308 Win. barrel, and other stuff) so the effort wasn't completely lost...

If no one comes up with a number for you, I might be able to drop a pin down through the gas block to check the hole, but I'd have to take the barrel to the shop to use a pin set/drill blank set there...

That dimension is not in the book since it is a collectors book, not a gunsmithing or gun modification book. The dimension is what it is. I do not have access to the original FN blueprints or assembly drawings, and have never dissected any of my rifles (removing the gas cylinder assembly is NOT a simple matter) just to determine the gas port dimensions of the various chamberings. Even removing the front sight to access the hole that runs through the gas cylinder is not an easy task. Then, there is no guarantee that the hole that runs through the gas cylinder is the same diameter as the actual gas port in the barrel (although it likely is). In any event, this knowledge is not necessary to collect, or shoot, these firearms.

Those who venture out with ideas of rebarreling or modifying their rifles are on their own...

OK, since I am rebarrelling, I am on my own. It will take a bit of time and money but I will figure this out and post up the results when I get the data. I should be able to post my findings on 7mm, 8mm, and 30-06.

I like to shoot as well as collect. So when a barrel gives up the ghost accuracy wise or is beyond saving, I think this data is important.

On a new unused 8mm barrel, I can put a .116" pin though the block into the barrel. But, a .117" would go through the gas block but not through the barrel.

My 30-06 barrel has been around the block a few times
