Colt AR-15 Model 614

Anybody know the exact history on these? Any difference from M16? why are they labeled the way they are? when/where were they sold.

Looking for anybody that has a good history lesson on these

M16(A1) was actually the US Govt designation for the weapon. 614 is simply Colt's and was mostly seen on export and private (non-Govt- Military anyway) sales. I am no expert but that is my understanding.

You could do some searching and find a nice TLC and do the same thing, still saving a bunch of $$ and end up with a nice, comfortable CAPABLE rig...

Here are a couple of conversations about your question on Colt 614's.

Go here:

Look up "Foreign Military Rifles & Carbines". Find Singapore/Charter. Only 614 mentioned there.
